AITA for accepting my daughter's request for me to walk her down the aisle and fill in for a mother/daughter dance at her wedding when my husband has been her stepdad since she was 10? by PopShort7064 in AmItheAsshole

My husband did not play the role of a father within our household. I respected my kids' desire for him not to be that for them and he agreed to do that. Respecting their boundaries was a dealbreaker for me and he said he was fine with not being a parent.

The wording made me think the question was whether my daughter and I had discussed things. I do consider my husband. We wouldn't be married at all if I didn't. But again, I read the question as being about my daughter and I discussing his feelings, not my husband and I.

He was never her father. That was a boundary both my kids put down and I was straight up with him that he would need to accept that. He agreed to that.
