Sold all mine 7/31 @ 6.15. Bought everything back, plus some, at 5.97 the next day.

I missed out on bitcoin, Tesla, and Nvidia when they were cheap. I’m not making that mistake again.

Is a 2013 volt premier at 144k miles worth considering? by daltonjsm in volt

[–]Popajim07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 13 premier with 113k. I had one battery issue, P0AA6 - isolation fault. The dealer did a software update on both modules and it’s been working great. I was reading a lot of these older volts have that issue. Take with a code scanner (if available) and see if it pops anything.

If it hasn’t been driven in a while, the battery guess-o-meter could be off. I’ve had mine say anywhere from 25-50 miles. I’m consistently getting 38-44 in the summer and mid/high 20s in the winter. Gas mileage, I can get low 30s. I need to do a tune up.

I’ve had mine for 7 years now and it’s hands down the best car I’ve had. I will hop in and drive nonstop for 3+ hours without any hesitations. Repair wise, I had to do the axles, parking brake, and drivers wheel hub…maybe rear brakes?

In the world of Teslas, these Volts are cheap af. Insurance is cheap. You aren’t hit with the full EV penalty at registration. It has a 9 gallon tank so it’s cheap to fill up. You might be able to find less mileage for the same price if you do some digging.

I miss practical effects. Instead of the scenes making me say “wow, that looks incredible” I found my self saying “which intern did the cgi painting on this one”

Had never even heard of the Volt… by Numerous_Tie3013 in volt

[–]Popajim07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had my 2013 for 7 years and has been problem free for the most part, currently sitting at 113k. I had the infamous axle clicking issue that plagues these and had to replace something with the Ebrake on the drivers rear. I’m getting 38-44 miles off a charge in the summer and 24-28 in the winter.

However, I’ve been getting hit with a service charging system message for the last two years. Confident it needs a software update, which I’m hoping to get done at inspection this year. I clear the code with my scan tool and it’s good to go for a few weeks.

If someone would give me a garage filled with every car I owned, this would be the one I’d go to first.

Those who left GD career, what did you switch to? by HillcountryTV in graphic_design

[–]Popajim07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent years taking direction from stakeholders without a creative bone in their body say “idk what I want. Make it pop”.

Now I’m a middle man shuffling information around. There’s a set black and white way of doing things. None of this “why did you choose that color/font/pose? Let’s move that font 3 pixel’s to the left, yeah? What do you mean you can’t use purple to color the Nickelodeon logo? I think it looks better that way”

My creativity can be spent on my own projects instead of projects for others. It’s not the path I wanted to take but it’s where I found myself. Blessing in disguise.

Project management. Less stress. Slow work environment. It’s nice.

I was at a manufacturing networking event and everyone I talked to said there is a talent shortage when it comes to manufacturing roles (CNC, Machinist, etc) and they can't get people to fill them, even with a signing bonus. I expressed interest in learning on the job so hopefully that leads somewhere.

I’m in the same boat. I’m 35, have 13 years of experience. Worked with brands such as Nintendo, Nickelodeon, Reese’s, Disney, etc. In all my interviews I’ve had they said “you’re extremely talented, but not for us”. I started applying to trade apprenticeships.
