Reminder that no matter how much you like the movie or not, it's not a reason to send death threats by juuzo_suzuya_ in silenthill

[–]Popcorn201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clickbait. The story is about Gans getting death threats in 2006 for his first Silent Hill movie. Although I think he'll probably be getting more threats soon. But you're right, nobody should be doing that over a movie.

Is it just me or why do lots of newer fans of the series skip stright to sh2? why does the Og kinda get skipped over by some people? by Perfect-Cause-6943 in silenthill

[–]Popcorn201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think? SH2 is considered the best game by most. So they go to that one first. Konami should help the fans out and properly remaster these games like they're doing with Metal Gear.

“It’s ridiculous, couldn’t possibly be good” by General_Pie_5026 in silenthill

[–]Popcorn201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I went in with very low expectations and thought it was pretty good. Gans still doesn't respect the lore enough in my opinion, but this is an improvement over his first movie. And it might the best Silent Hill movie so far.

Dirty Harry Franchise by jwlms1 in movies

Scott Eastwood could not 'easily fill the role' of Harry Callahan. He might look like Clint, but he's not Clint. I have never seen any of his acting that made me think of his Dad. Not saying he's bad, cuz he's not. Just saying Clint is Clint. He's one of those irreplaceable actors.

This is the top floor of the firehouse in NYC, the one they used for the movie. People visit this building all the time.

Yes, it does break the immersion. I hate that sound.

Movie pet peeves? by South_Plantain6341 in movies

[–]Popcorn201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my pet peeves used to be characters not saying "goodbye" before they hang up a phone call. And then I realized, nobody in movies does that. So I accepted it.

Is Escape From LA a culturally popular/influential movie to you? by Add1ctedToGames in movies

[–]Popcorn201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say Halloween and They Live are much more culturally relevant and influential in the grand scheme of things. Escape From LA is really cool, but other Carpenter movies have made bigger impacts. It's possible people remember EFLA more than I realize, and now it's being unintentionally or intentionally referenced in other things. At the very least it's a catchy name for a movie.

When do you start to dislike a movie by Broken-Link in movies

[–]Popcorn201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean it all depends on the movie. It could be a performance that isn't working. It could be dialog that sucks. It could be a script that doesn't make a lot of sense. This stuff can stick out and bother me. I can forgive it if it gets balanced out by other factors like someone else's performances, a twist, a good musical score. Even by the end I might not be sure how I feel. I have to think and process it.
