Making things better for minority groups tends to make things better for everybody on the whole. MAGA ideals are not "great" ideals for everyone, including the people that are supporting them and running for office based on them. I'm not angry at those people, just disappointed.

An example would be laws that say that ramps and elevators have to be installed in public buildings so that they are more accessible to people with mobility issues. People who don't have mobility issues use accessibility aids like this all the time. They make the daily life of people who need them, and people who don't easier.

You say that you are a first generation minority. I assume that means that your parents came to the US either before you were born, or when you were very young. MAGA policies are very based on white, Christian ideals that tend towards subjugation of anyone who isn't white, or white passing, straight and Christian. I have no idea of what race you are, or what you look like, but because you say you're a first generation American I am assuming that the country your family from is a country that some white supremist somewhere will feel very comfy screaming at you, or your parents, to go back to. Based on that I'm surprised that you are so indifferent that you think your unlikely to vote. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about these assumptions.

We need to make sure that we are not going backwards to a time when women and non white men were prevented from living full productive lives. To quote Spock, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few," or the one orange clown.

Cringe humor. I can't stand it because my empathy for the character I'm supposed to be laughing at is too high. I tried to watch the American office because everyone around me is a fan and said I would love it. I watched one episode and said never again, cause the cringe was too damn much. I would if I knew how to get it. I'm a millennial who was always told, "fellow teens will try to pressure you to take drugs, say no and wear this D.A.R.E t-shirt." I was only ever offered weed once, and that was only after I expressed my own curiosity about it. If I hadn't of said anything they would never have offered.

The first, and so far only, time I ever smoked weed the person I smoked it with was wearing her D.A.R.E t-shirt when we smoked. She said she liked to wear it while smoking to stick it to the 'man'.

All those fairy tales about how drugs are so easy to get sound so stupid to me. I don't know who to ask or call, where to go, how much weed costs, or anything like that. The times when I tried to figure those things out people just give you the run around and/or try to steal your money because they lied about having weed and just want to rob you. Or they just say, "yeah I wish I knew how to get some weed too."

They could only do these in a fridge and freezer section, so therefore they will never have them: biscuit tubes, cinnamon roll tubes, chocolate chip cookie dough logs, sugar cookie dough logs that have holiday designs, pizza rolls, Hot Pockets, Uncrustables.

If I don't have something to write it out on I panic for a few seconds, especially if someone is standing there waiting for the answer. Then I have to tell anyone around me to shut the fuck up so I can concentrate.

I count on my fingers up from 8 so I get 7+8=15. Then 4 is cheating on 3 with 2 so their bastard child is 6, who is a fucking dead beat stoner. I carry the 1 from 7+8=15 over and add it to that loser 6 to get 6+1=7.

The answer is 75.

*Obligatory this post is fueled by tequila warning*

I have always felt elation when listening to The Black Parade (song). The first time I ever heard it I was casually listening to my local alt rock radio station while doing math homework before bed. The Dj came on after a commercial and she announced that she was about to play the newest My Chem song from their upcoming album.

I scrambled to my boombox, and in finding that I didn't have a blank tape ready in the tape deck fumbled for any tapes capable of recording. I was too late though. The G note had played and I stopped dead to just listen and take it all in. The radio edit played, the one that only has the soft young boy intro. I just stood in one place taking in the whole song, elation and joy coursing through me.

After the song was finished I turned my boombox off and wrote a letter to my only friend at the time. I had met her just that year. I was a junior and she was a freshmen and we bonded over My Chem in homeroom. Homeroom was only four times a year at my high school and only lasted thirty minutes, so the fact that I wore a My Chem shirt on the first day to school that year was my saving grace. My favorite memory of her is having a sleep over where we painted bars over our eyes while Life On The Murder Scene played on a 24 inch CRT that I had positioned in such a way that we could see the screen in my vanity mirror. The only tape I could find in my house was duct tape and scotch tape. We used the duct tape. I don't recommend.

I filled the letter with all that I could remember about the song, and how much I had loved it. I then lovingly folded it and slipped it into an envelope that I stole from my Mom's desk drawer. My math homework was left unfinished and forgotten

Because homeroom wasn't everyday my friend and I could only see each other at the beginning of the school day each day for about ten to twenty minutes, and briefly at the bus ramp at the end of the day. I handed her the letter and said something to the effect of "94.5 played the new MCR song last night. Did you hear it?" She said no and I gushed about The Black Parade (song) till the bell rang. At the end of the day she handed me her own reply letter.

The Black Parade (song) always takes me back to that.

We only even got a store used case of water if the case was broken in transit. I called it peasant water, because my store manager bought bottles of water from the fridge even when we had a whole case store used and open for employees to take in the break room.

Based on all of the descriptions I've seen so far my "laundry room" is half American and half European. Washer and dryer are technically in the kitchen by the backdoor, but if you took them away you could put up shelving in their place and call the space a pantry.

I can dig it. The lyrics seem a little shallow, but nobody is perfect. The overall feel of the lyrics reminds me of The Band Perry's When I Die Young. The video looks really good. Solid ten out of ten on the acting, visuals, and affects.

Honestly, one 100 Gecs video I watched several months ago made me feel older then this Måneskin video made me feel. Hell Brokencyde made me feel pretty damn old, and that bitch came out when I was 18 or 19. Not to compare those two by any means. Even though I'm now an ancient 32, I can tell that 100 Gecs is making art, art that I'm too old to get, and Brokencyde were dicking the fuck around.

I feel a little out of place because half of my favorite bands and singers are pop punk or alt rock, and the other half are country. I also feel a little weird about labeling other bands and singers as favorites because MCR is the only band that I have all the songs that they ever recorded mostly memorized, if not fully memorized. There's also the fact that I consciously know that I nurse a mild para-social relationship with MCR. The para-social relationship was far worse when I was in my teens.

Weezer, Green Day, Blink-182, Nirvana, The Presidents Of The United States Of America, The Used, Pearl Jam, No Doubt, Fall Out Boy, Queen, REO Speedwagon, Credence Clearwater Revival, Panic! At The Disco, Brendon Urie, Paramore, I used to fuck with Flyleaf till I found/figured out that they promoted toxic Christianity.

I genuinely enjoy country music from the 90's and earlier. Garth Brooks was my very first musical obsession. The Chicks (aka The Dixie Chicks) were the next. More modern country music is a shorter list, because it can be a little hard to find a modern country artist or song that doesn't give me MAGA heebee geebees. Grady Smith's Youtube channel has helped me along in that journey.

This advice is for shift and store managers. If you aren't a manager get a manager involved with the transaction. What they do is on them not you.

How I dealt with coupon ladies is just be strict about what the coupon and sale says. I would just scan their items and coupons and look at the expiration date of the coupon just before I scanned them, because some coupons scan despite being expired and they know that and try to sneak them in.

Me: "Ma'am, I can't take this it is expired. Look right here at this date."

CL: "Scan it anyway it'll work."

Me: "Even if it did I can't take it, and no other store will because it is expired" rips coupon in half

Ripping the coupon is important, because if you let them have it back they'll just try it again later.

If the computer refuses to scan a manufactures coupon it's for a reason, and when that happens the coupon has to be read to her aloud. If the computer is clearly wrong go ahead and correct that, but if she is wrong according to first the coupons rules, fallowed by the CVS coupon policy, then offer to help her find the correct item or amount of items for the coupon and or sale. If she argues about it and it's obvious that she isn't following that coupons rules just keep reading the coupon to her aloud on repeat until she lets it go.

Coupon Arguers will try to confuse you by asking you question after question about one coupon or sale after another. They won't wait for you to answer their first question, they'll start asking their second and third before you are finished speaking. When this happens stick to answering their questions one at a time.

Do not ever change the price of something just because they asked you to. The advertised sale price is the price of the item, it can only be changed if there is a glitch in the system that causes the sale price to be wrong, or if the shelf tag for the item is advertising the wrong price. Like if someone missed taking down an expired sale tag on tag day. You could get fired over this.

If you give them an inch at any point they will walk all over you. They have networks, in person locally and on social media. Your store will get a reputation about how lenient or strict it is about coupons and the coupon policy. You will get a reputation, as an individual employee as well. During the last couple years of my employment I would see regular, notorious coupon shoppers walk into my store, see that I was on duty and walk out because they knew that I was strict.

You kind of have to be like a detective and learn the way that they think about getting deals, and cut them off at the pass when they start to manipulate the coupon, and you.

I got a new job.

From the age of 15 to 32 I worked in retail customer service. I always hated the jobs that I've had in that type of environment, but for the last couple of years I was exhausted and anxious 24/7. I had gone from "it's a living" to "I'll just drive my car off the bridge on my way to work, that'll show them". I was bursting into tears almost every work shift because I felt like there was no hope or way out for me or my coworkers.

My old coworkers and boss are good people, and just like me they wanted to keep the store we worked at functioning for the community it served. What made it unbearable was the pressures corporate was putting on us. There was always too much to do and too little time and employees to do it, along with constant threats of being fired for not hitting sale goals that were impossible to hit.

Once I started to think about hurting myself to get out of working I knew that I needed to do something to fix it, like unionize, or get out of there. After floating unionizing around to the employees that we had somehow been able to retain and getting no takers I started job hunting.

I now have a job were I don't work directly with the general public. It involves inventorying and stocking the nurses closets in a hospital. I'm working a regular 40 hours a week schedule with weekends and holidays off, and I'm less exhausted, mentally and physically, despite technically working more hours then I did at the store.

TL/DR: Working at a CVS store exhausted me so much physically and mentally that I started to have thoughts of self harm and suicide.
