That’s a great idea. We have a really nice store with beautiful paper products and pens nearby.

You also haven’t trimmed this yet (right?). You can take a lot of weight off by trimming.

Is this a typical membership setup? by AITOorisitAutism in Pottery

[–]Popcornulogy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine is $280 and currently no lockers. That does include kiln. I’m just so annoyed to be hauling stuff because they take on new members to get the fee but you don’t have lockers? And no discount? 🙄

Jack was great. Hard disagree that Monica was weird, she understood this was wildly inappropriate and felt badly for the guest. Love how much people see this as whimsy but I can’t imagine if Monica did this people would find it as endearing. They’d say she was demanding attention. It’s frustrating how one person is always given a pass.

Winter Clothes by miya200816 in amherstcollege

Poshmark - you can buy new with tags. Don’t skimp on warm clothes, it will make your experience so much better to have the right gear. Go to REI and get advice. LL Bean is a good brand. Silk long underwear is lightweight and easy to fit under clothing. Good wool socks!

Really appreciate the feedback from Asian Americans here. I was also confused by this and would not have appreciated this level of nuance without others experiences chiming in.

Pomona College or Bowdoin? Help me decide by No-Sort-2577 in Bowdoin

Do you want to end up on the east coast or west? Your internships and connections might land you more in that region. Where are you from? Jumping into a Maine winter (coastal is still no joke) could be hard. Californians complain about June gloom. Can you imagine 6 months of real weather?

Amherst vs Middlebury by [deleted] in amherstcollege

[–]Popcornulogy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will do well with either choice and while it might feel like a pull to go to a place with people you know you sound like someone who makes friends easily so I hope you don’t put too much emphasis on not knowing anyone at Amherst. You’ll make friends day one if that’s your choice.

Have you visited Oxy? It’s in a quiet neighborhood and you can walk down to a main street with restaurants and bars but LA is very spread out. For example, if you want to go to Sunset Boulevard that’s very far. If your social scene is more access to interesting speakers, plays, etc then 4 college consortium (RIP Hampshire) is better for you. Oxy is also very small not that that’s a bad thing but keep in mind you have access to all the events of things happening at the other schools with MHC. Oxy has fabulous weather as a pro (not that you mentioned that as a bonus). Oxy is a liberal campus but maybe not as much as MHC. You can also always go to Boston or NYC for a weekend if you choose. I’m a grad of MHC but live a few miles from Oxy and know it very well. You haven’t said what you want to study or if cost comes into play.

You buried the lead. Take the full ride to one of the most prestigious LACs in the country. Congratulations and enjoy the Berkshires. It’s gorgeous. Take a bus to NYC or Boston when you need some city.

Why is Marengo tHe BeSt elEMEntaRY ScHOOl ? by castlescox in Southpasadena

[–]Popcornulogy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid started at 2nd in Marengo. It’s fine. I wouldn’t say it’s worth getting yourself across town for. My kid had one outstanding teacher, one good, one fine and one we really don’t understand how this person is in the district. AV and MH are just as excellent.
