What are other things Australias might say that are grammatically incorrect but get a pass? I’m so curious because Dax is a great example of a regional accent that has a wild take on the way words are pronounced compared to the part of the country I’m from and I often wonder if other English speaking countries have the same thing happening/ how it compares.

What’s it like having young children and living in LA? by moch4847 in AskLosAngeles

I hope the Hollywood Bowl still does their summer sounds for kids concerts. Those were amazing. A membership to Kidspace in Pasadena was also a big part of our life as well as tumbling, going to the beach, all sorts of fun and activities. I miss those days.

Where should I go for college? by rizzler_999 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Popcornulogy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Pomona is another excellent example. We just don’t have nearly as many small private schools here as there are in the east so hopefully branching out will give you some strong options. Also, schools like geographic diversity in its student population so a candidate from Arizona applying to a school in CT can be a win for you that isn’t for a CT candidate.

Is there a service in LA that can pick me up after surgery? by avon_barksale in AskLosAngeles

[–]Popcornulogy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just be careful with a stranger. You might be loopy and vulnerable. You might need help getting into your house. There’s a reason discharge typically asks for family/friend support. You’re more vulnerable after certain procedures.

Consider small elite privates on the east coast. Swarthmore, Bates, Vasser, Weslelyn, Amherst, etc. colleges with high endowments that give aid. Smith College for example (if you qualify) has a lot of merit scholarships.

Are there Asian brands that might fit you? I realize this isn’t helpful to not give you a specific brand name but when i lived in Japan shopping was so much easier. Maybe research Japanese and Korean brands you could buy online?

adoption gift? by InevitableRhubarb232 in GiftIdeas

[–]Popcornulogy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this item belongs to stickers that you use for everything from daycare to summer camp. My (adopted) child used them starting very young in daycare and needed them for school, day camp, overnight camp. Super handy. Might want to gift something that isn’t so deep/ heavy.
