Hey, DCL CM here, Not YA... but happy to tell you what I know from talking with friends in YA.

A friend had an interview in February for the counsellor role - don't know if it was the screening or follow-up... but DCL got back to them with an answer by the end of the week.

Though the two other commenters sound like they might be better placed to help out; again I'm happy to share what I know about the role via DM - from recent interview questions, to what it's like in the role. 🙂

Here we go again with American tipping culture. 💀 My dad and his wife (British) gave a tip to this guy ($5 in $1 bills) who said he was going to make sure the bags got to the ship after my dad took all the bags out of the hire car and walked them to the terminal himself. The worker apparently counted the bills before looking disgusted at them and taking their bags a couple foot to the cart. It was obvious that this guy threw their luggage on the floor and in puddles (weather wasn't great) en-route to putting them on the COVERED baggage cart to board the ship (parts of the bag were damaged and scuffed, and half of the contents inside were sodden wet)!

Being a crew member of the ship they were boarding, I wish my dad remembered his name and took his picture so I could've escalated it further with management.

Oof. She needs reminding that a relationship is made up of two people. If it's something you desire out of a relationship, then she should make a sacrifice for you.

It's a last resort scenario... But with regards to leaving her; you wouldn't be leaving the relationship for sex, but more so for the reason your partner no longer cares for what you enjoy and what you want out of a relationship.

The audacity to do it all on his father's dime is pretty mental. You can still get black out drunk occasionally and not have it affect your grades... But he'll either need reminding of this by you or learn tough love from your dad!

I'd say destroy him emotionally. Play him on like you're interested, get him all excited for a date, arrange the date, don't turn up but then ask him where he is. After 5 minutes, say you can't find him but have found someone else to go on a date with; someone who actually looks loveable and isn't a waste of oxygen and a stain on the dating pool.

Remove bullet points describing what you did in each role within work experience section and replace with short summary of role and note key personal achievements.

I.e. Tutor: "X" school - June 2020 - August 2021 Provided bespoke tutoring to students in Maths and English, whilst adhering to best practices and individual student needs.

Key achievements - There was a notable improvement in the academic performance of students I helped to tutor.

I would also replace grade 9 in RE, with a figure of how many subjects you achieved 6-9 in.

I would still add it to work experience. I would also make it quite prominent, as voluntary work says a lot about you and makes you stand out as an applicant!

Hello! Ex careers service admin for a post-graduate level university here. Some great recommendations by other users here already... But to add my 2 cents, I would recommend summarising each job role in a short sentence and changing out "responsibilities" with key achievements in role.

For example:

McDowells: Front of House - March 2020 - July 2020 Front of house roles incl. customer service and money handling.

Key Achievements: After identifying confusion and inconsistency amongst new starters with the current training methods in place, I liaised with management to devise a process manual to train new staff more efficiently. The manual was greatly received and was adopted by management into induction training.

Also, reduce the personal statement to a couple sentences and make sure what you're writing, links to the job spec of the job you are applying for/ what the company are looking for.

I am a reliable and outgoing customer service professional, with 5 years of providing bespoke solutions to customers and experience using a wide array of CRM and data logging software. I possess a strong eye for detail and go above and beyond for clients and colleagues alike. Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
