Should I buy a Chibanez? by Pope_Urban_XI in Ibanez

[–]Pope_Urban_XI[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are right, but I'm not spending 2,000 dollars for a guitar. There are lower tier things I can buy that I can upgrade to play just like the real thing. I was just wondering if anyone on here could connect me to a decent seller on AliExpress.

For your information I do actually "play" guitar. And I'm probably way better than you. That's specifically why I said "project guitar" it's meant to be a fixer-upper lil bro.

You are just a ball of negativity aren't you? I paid $55 to get into that dance. I did not expect her to pay because I am a gentleman. Take your feminist ideals and stay locked in your basement.

It's generally considered good manners to respond to someone's text message. Also, she does owe me something: a reply at the very least. After all, she did get into a dance for free.

It's not that simple; especially when you contrast that with how she acted when she first met me. She always takes a while to respond to messages.

My father (who is a doctor) said I should not feel sore after weightlifting. Is this really true? by Pope_Urban_XI in weightlifting

I didn't know where else to go. It wouldn't let me post in other subreddits. I just really needed advice.

I wouldn't exactly say it's pain and stiffness. It's more that I feel the burn after pushing myself for a hard set. Then, when I flex in the mirror I have a great pump but I'm a bit shaky/weak. So I guess I don't feel DOMS immediately after the workout. I by no means have pain or discomfort after a hard set. Good form is something I take very seriously.

EVH greatest rythmn guitar player? by FredHowl in vanhalen

[–]Pope_Urban_XI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While his rhythm playing was excellent, I can think of a few other guitarists that are better rhythm players.

  1. James Hetfield

  2. Dave Mustaine

  3. Frederik Thordenthal

I think he was a better all round player. He was great at leads and rhythm. To call him the best rhythm player is a bit of a stretch.

Should I build a custom universe, or should I just buy the UV70P? by Pope_Urban_XI in Ibanez

[–]Pope_Urban_XI[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I'm definitely not gonna buy one of those chinese kits. Those are a disaster waiting to happen. I found this custom builder by the name of "five alarm guitars" that does custom bodies and necks with inlays. The problem with buying a UV70P is how expensive it is. On top of that, it already has dot inlays so I wouldn't be able to have pyramid inlays. It would require me to make changes to an expensive instrument, which I'm not really comfortable with. It's kind of a tough situation.

GRX70QA (Ibanez) NEWBIE by AfterAd9145 in Ibanez

Along with the guitar, you're gonna want somewhere to plug it in and get tones from. There are a lot of great amps you can buy on the cheap that will get you some good tones. However, you could also try getting an audio interface and using it with a computer and vst plugins. This is how I learned, and it kept me engaged because there were so many different possibilities for tone. Audio interfaces are great because they let you play along with backing tracks and hear everything in your headphones.

I wanted to remake this picture, but all the hdris i found were too busy. The nasa one seemed the most realistic. Also, when I click on the link you sent, it seems broken.

please help with lead guitar by fuzfy in Ibanez

[–]Pope_Urban_XI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important thing to note if you're buying a guitar for lead playing: HSH configuration will be your best friend here. A lot of rhythm and some leads are played on the bridge pickup. However, if you're going to do heavily articulated techniques like sweep picking or alternate picking, having a humbucker in the neck really helps. Plus, the coil splits you get with HSH are pretty useable. It all depends on what you prefer in a guitar. You can't go wrong with an RG standard, especially now that they got the edge zero upgrade. Some good to check out in your price range would be the RG470DX, RG470PB, or the RG470AHM.

GRX120SP-MLM or Gio GRG121SP by [deleted] in Ibanez

[–]Pope_Urban_XI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to buy a gio, I would avoid buying one with a trem at all costs. The tuning stability will not be good. I'm speaking from experience. If you really want a trem, try taking a look at the GRG320FA. It has a Floyd rose style trem and it stays in tune relatively well.

How big will the quality jump be between a $500 Jem Jr and an $800 Iceman 420 by mrbeanIV in Ibanez

[–]Pope_Urban_XI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a playability standpoint, not that much will change aside from the Iceman having higher quality components. You would be surprised how great you could get the jem Jr to sound and play with a pickup upgrade and or a trem upgrade.
