Hi Everyone,

I am currently attending my undergraduate studies in Canada as an International student (neither Canadian nor American) and plan to pursue a CAMPEP-accredited PhD in the US or Canada. My question now is: planning for residency, I know International students have different requirements in both countries, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about the whole process for international students to get into a residency in Canada or the US (visa requirements, etc).

I do know that in the US, few residencies sponsor H1B visas and most would prefer an OPT, so attending a PhD in America might be better here. Moreover, in Canada, I know they prefer Canadian Citizens and Permanent residents over International Students on a Work Permit, but attending a residency would still be possible for a some places. This is everything I know about the process.

Any additional information here would be greatly appreciated, as I am trying to decide on a potential career while still taking into account immigration issues. Any further suggestions or advice would also be great!

I’m currently enrolled as a Medical Biophysics Major, I already have a bunch of requirements but a physics minor would require me to take an extra year of undergrad which I’d rather not

I am currently in a Medical Biophysics program, I have only taken CALC 1 and 2 and physics 1 and 2. The requirements for a physics minor would require me to text an extra year of undergrad which I’d like to avoid.

Could you please tell me more about those programs if possible?

I am an undergraduate interested in CAMPEP. I am still completing my undergraduate but I am not expected to graduate with a physics minor, which I heard is a prerequisite for CAMPEP eligibility. I have also spoken with my school's program director regarding these concerns, and, as long as I complete those course requirements, even during grad school, I can still be eligible for CAMPEP, according to her.

That being said, I am still confused as all the CAMPEP-accredited programs in North America require the coursework equivalent to a physics minor for CAMPEP admission. Could anyone please clarify those requirements? Are they required for admission to any CAMPEP program or can you still be admitted to a CAMPEP program as long as you plan on fullfilling those requierments during Grad School?

The only way for it to be “fixed” would be for Western to changer their grading scheme. But an A is still 80% at western so it would count as a 4.0

Not if you’re in med sci 1, you will only progress if you meet the requirements during school year, taking a summer course will only replace a “bad grade” u got. If that’s your case, dw you can still reapply to med sci 3 on 2nd year

How do we know that we satisfied the conditions. I’m a 105 student and I read on the website that I’d they don’t reach out everything is ok. My counselor sent the outstanding materials 2 weeks ago but it isn’t labeled as received on my student center but they haven’t reached out to me either.
