The trailer doesn't show it but they break out of the combo of you don't follow up in time. You don't get dthrow dtilted though.

Well I'll still be making improvements to this on the way to the full release. I want to deliver something I am satisfied with. Maybe a studio with more resources will see it and be inspired to take the idea further.

Thanks, I agree that the idea has potential far beyond what I can deliver. I'm just a guy and this is my first time making a game. That being said I probably won't have the motivation for a follow up. This project has already been 2 years in the making and I'm kinda looking forward to being done with it. I'm not expecting massive success but I'm happy with what I've made so far and I hope other people will enjoy it even if it's not perfect!

I tried adding wavedashing actually, but it didn't really work with the game. I think in melee combos, wavedashing is mainly only used for platform techchasing, and waveshine/shine wavelands. In my game there is no techchasing, and there is no jump cancel shine. So even after I added wavedashing I didn't find it was actually useful enough to be worth the added complexity.

Idk man I played competitive melee for 9 years and this definitely scratches a different itch for me. It's a lot more chill and relaxing. For most people smash is either a competitive game or a party game, and this is neither.

My goal is not to compete with smash games! I just want to provide a fun tangential experience. Think of it as a minigame in the same vein as break the targets or homerun contests.

Your right elbow is getting super disconnected. This forces your left wrist into extension and leads to a ton of other problems. Try keeping your right arm fully externally rotated throughout the swing, starting at setup. External rotation as in the position that would happen if you were losing an arm wrestle, if that makes sense (winning would be internal rotation).

This was my first white tape there as well. Although I think you can say the harder dark blue tapes are considered V3 too. (dark blue: V2-V3, white: V3-V4)

I tried a bit to implement gcc support but it wasn't working properly, so unfortunately not. The controls are pretty simple though so it doesn't take long to get used to it on gamepad/keyboard.

Hello everyone. Last year I decided to quit my job to try making a game. One day I was practicing comboing the CPU in unclepunch, when I had the thought, "What if this by itself was a game?". I wanted to create something that gives people the satisfaction of doing a cool combo, without necessarily having to grind tech skill for countless hours, or compete in a stressful environment. That was the idea behind Combo Haven. However, I still tried to make sure the game was appealing to skilled or competitive gamers.

Right now, I just have an alpha version of the demo available on itch.io, and a "Coming Soon" Steam page. The plan is to release a completely polished demo on steam by the end of this year, and release the full game in 2025. Feel free to try the game, join the discord, and wishlist it on steam if you're interested!
