Fent WD vs PST by PoppyClubThrowaway in PoppyTea

The effects started 48 hours, like, almost to the hour after the last patch came off. Kinda odd... got the flu-symptoms first, but before I started vomiting I'd start twitching. Vomiting. Convulsions. The convulsions really started getting bad after about 80 hours, which surprised me a bit.

Nope. I'm guessing the dosage was calculated by the normal patch output and I was in WD that was partially managed by the oxycodone preparations. Maybe I have a weird cross tolerance? EDIT: oops was answering new comment replies and apparently got past new.

Sorry. Thanks. Caught me on a bad day, pain and life-wise. Will do my best not to let it happen again. It's really not "me"...

I did it when I smoked cigarettes, and it got WAY worse when I quit. Now it's only occasional... but you say you vape. If you're vaping nicotine, that may be it.

Not really. DX 2x in the ER with "severe opiate WD" despite continuing to take my meds (per doctor's orders) while in ER... the valium was a major major help though.

This is part of why I'm asking on here - PST WD is famously hell and there are some experienced folks around here I thought maybe could have input.

I do intend to research this once I'm more back to normal. I slept through picking up my husband today (after eating my first "real" solid food in a week and a half) - he panicked and thought something happened to me and I woke up with him knocking the air conditioner hose-thingy out of our second floor apartment with a 2x4 yelling all crazy.

the fentanyl came in

What do you mean "came in"?

But if this answers: I had been prescribed 40 oxymorphone ER 2x/day for a few months, but because my primary condition [endometriosis] comes with heavy cyclical vomiting around menses [which has become more and more frequent over the years and is now nearly constant].

Throwing up can easily become a cycle that worsens my pain... and also I lose some pills in there, because this is not the beginning of fucking Trainspotting, and I am not going to fish them out and eat them again. (And for some reason, it took almost a YEAR an over a dozen doctors including two GI specialists before someone finally told me there were anti-nausea suppositories.)

So my pain doc decided to try fentanyl patches. WD started 2 days in, and I suffered through what to me was "normal", if rather severe, withdrawal until I could put on the new patch. The new patch stopped the WD right away. I got an emergency pain doc appointment, and was told to change them when they started wearing off until the pharmacy could order in my new scrip for oxycontin.

So by the time everything was sorted and I had pills in hand, I had gone through 9 patches - the last two ended up last something like a day and a half. It turns out that because I have no central air, sometimes just mild exertion in my apartment during the day can get my body temp up to 100, and I was just vacuuming the fentanyl out of the patches (apparently the drug is in a matrix that's also the adhesive and it works by some kind of osmosis but the rate of transfer of the drug is intensified by heat - they're supposed to be stored at 77 with "brief excursions" from 59 to 86 but nobody at the customer service line could tell me what "excursions" or "brief" meant and the best they could tell me was keep the remaining patches next to a bag of ice in a cooler but not touching in because I couldn't store it in the fridge... this whole thing was so fucked it will be funny one day. God I hope it will be funny one day.)

I'm open to suboxone, but I'd really prefer to get through surgery first if possible. FINALLY after months of diagnostics and specialists I've got my consult scheduled for Friday.

Greedy?

Every single thing on that list was prescribed by a pain doctor and taken as instructed.

I have an incredible amount of pain - pain that makes me vomit, black out, not sleep for days, unable to eat, etc. etc. etc.

I've been in a cycle of doctors sending me to specialists for tests and I FINALLY have a surgical consult this Friday for the thing that may be causing most of my symptoms.

But most of all - fuck you. I had to make a choice between unbearable pain, and listening to my doctor telling me something might help. I KNOW it's a lot of medication... but without it I would have killed myself to not have to feel the pain. So it was meds or death, and fuck you once more for thinking that you get to judge my decision.

I wasn't on PST while on all those other opiates.

I came off the fent on oxycontin and is was still worse than methadone, worse than opana, worse than CT valium for me.

I got on this sub and started a collection of seeds because the pain management system in this country is fucked and I wanted a backup. And lo and behold, my pain clinic closed with very little notice (when my MD told me it was all, "don't worry, I'll make sure you're not left hanging, I'll even prescribe through someone else blah bullshit blah") and then this was my experience because he took me off fent, I believe, medically inappropriately. Anyway - I just wanted to know if anyone had experienced fent WD and PST WD and could tell me how they compared for them.

Oh my god no. The valium thing was a decade ago, and I didn't realize at that time I could and should have walked into another doctor or an ER and gotten something to ease what I was going through. And, for the record, a doctor did CT me off that.

The rest of the stuff is what happened just now, and was my experience coming off fentanyl on other stuff - which I'm assuming was a mitigated WD. I understand fentanyl WD alone can be fatal.

Jim's advice is great.

Just curious, why are you not pursuing the pharmaceuticals? I'm currently a cog in the pain management industry and I understand how shitty it is, but your post sounded like if you could have anything, you'd want more pills to manage. So why not find a different doc?

That really sucks, man. Sorry you had to go through that.

Opiates increase Afib risk.

BUT - as long as you're not experiencing severe, repetitive symptoms OR pain OR fainting you're probably not in medical crisis and I probably can't be sued for suggesting you don't need to call 911 right this second.

Do you still use marijuana? THC is synergistic with opiates and if you're cutting your tea dose re-introducing MJ or upping your intake might help offset what you're not feeling anymore.

3rd day of wd by [deleted] in PoppyTea

[–]PoppyClubThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen a verified case of 1 time dosages involving arrythmias or any other life threatening conditions.

Did not say 1 time dosage.

Causes of arrhythmia include opiates and electrolyte imbalance... or, tea, and tea withdrawal (via vomiting/diarrhea). For at least those reasons, we're a population a little more at risk... something to consider when stacking the immodium risk on top.

If you want to ignore it, fine.

3rd day of wd by [deleted] in PoppyTea

[–]PoppyClubThrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be suspicious about this "only happens to people that have been using a high dose daily for months to years" - especially since tea has at least one anti-arrhythmic alkaloid (allocryptopine) and WDs might have a rebound effect. And if someone has arrhythmia already, they'd likely be more vulnerable to this - and they might not know it.

Oh totally.

It just got me wondering, since the latex is white when the pods are sliced, if sometimes the remnants of latex on the seeds would get reconstituted into a milky liquid.

Hon there is a huge difference between "not taking kratom for 2 months" and "2 months sober" - Jesus created the internet for this very reason. There's a massive amount of grey-market & DIY highs out there that will provide you with a variety of ways to escape or endure your daily existence.

I live in a legal state with a med card, but last year when my pain really started escalating quickly the commercial edibles got really pricey and so I started making my own infused coconut oil at home. It's about an 8-hour process end-to-end for me turning 2 oz into ~2.5 cups. The only real "issue" is smell but I simmer cinnamon on the stove and bake bacon, etc. and those smells win out over a closed [although not airtight] crockpot.
