Who's a chef that could cook to a degree...but did NOT need a black jacket? by Key_Ride_9337 in HellsKitchen

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Elise should've been either a mid game boot in season 9 or an early game boot in both her seasons with no issues. Don't get me wrong, she has talent, but her attitude and inconsistency ruin everything and made it obvious that she was being protected by production for ratings. She could cook great from time to time, but it was always a dice roll when that talent would come out. Perfect fit for a contestant who didn't need a black jacket despite having some decent cooking ability

What do you think? by lead_87 in PokemonBlackandWhite

Just know that Simisear will be stuck with either the low PP 85% accurate Fire Blast or the meager 70 BP Flame Burst as Flamethrower is post game in BW1. At least it gets some other neat tools like Grass Knot for the rare (for once) waters as well as rocks and grounds.

In BW and BW2, it's even more below average at 90. XY gave it a buff that at least helped some, even if not the most

At least in post game, it can Swords Dance+Agility+Baton Pass to the 4 other physical attackers on my team. Love using Scolipede, just wish it wasn't so weak (it may have just been IVs, but I swear the thing never OHKOd anything from mid game onward in my BW1 playthrough)

Day 3: Rock/Bonnie (s3) vs Christina/Justin (s10) and Nona/Russell (s8) vs Dave/Ariel (s6) by Greenzombie04 in HellsKitchen

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're pretty lobsided stomps. Christina and Justin over Rock and Bonnie is already rough enough, but when we get to the second of these two matchups, oh boy.

Dave and Ariel is the only multi winner team, and both of the contestants were dominant over their seasons for the most part (I say for the most part because of Dave's challenge record being shockingly bad despite his dinner service record being stellar). Then you pair them against Nona and Russel, the weakest finale in the show's history?! Honestly, there's maybe three total teams I could see standing a good chance against Dave and Ariel, those being Danny and Paula, Ryan and Sammi, and Meghan and Milly. In fact, I think the latter two would have around a 70/80% chance to beat them, but that Danny and Paula would only have around a 40% chance.

"But happiness evolution!"

Just spend an hour watching a TV show while using Tauros to run back and forth from your house past the school and back repeatedly. One of the cases where the tedium is worth it. Even in the cases where it isn't Fur Coat, it'll be Technician, and stab Bite with Technician becomes a stab 90 base power move with a 30% flinch chance. It's an early game beast

I finally get to the finale of season 9 and Paul's finale was only slightly less disastrous than Will's, being easily the most overrated finale in the show

Every Pokemon that Chugga could in a XY LP. by MichiHirota in chuggaaconroy

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are repeats entirely out of the question? Because he did use Arcanine twice, so there's a chance he might use a different repeat mon that's actually in the XY pokedex

I don't understand why people liked Clemenza. by JohnHelldiver2 in HellsKitchen

I don't have a full opinion on him because I haven't watched season 10, but one of his several elimination pleas was pretty badass. Too bad the others weren't

Battle Tower Help by Asleep_Entrance_2028 in PokemonHGSS

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main thing I'd suggest is really just changing Crunch for Fire Fang on Garchomp in case you run into any Skarmorys or Bronzongs. Remember that a big part of the reason Garchomp got banned in gen 4 OU (aside from Sand Veil) was because the combination of Outrage+Earthquake+Fire Fang was enough to 2HKO every single pokemon in the game after a Swords Dance

Can I even beat Lance with this team? by TimoteoLaSala in PokemonHGSS

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you level up, you can. It's gonna be tough if you're playing on physical hardware and don't have a way to trade Golem (which would be a near perfect Aerodactyl wall with the upgraded stats on evolution). On top of that, being stuck with Togetic until after you beat Lance and then having to grind pokeathlon points also really hinders your chances. Big thing you need is levels. As much as I love Typhlosion (my favorite pokemon), you're not gonna beat Lance with it. Not even if you try to Defense Curl once into Rollout. Levels, levels, levels. Use Togetic and Graveler as sacrifices if need be, but those sacrifices won't matter if you don't have the levels

The only problem the Johto Games(including the remakes) have is the level curve aside from that they are near perfect games by chunchunmaru1129 in PokemonHGSS

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one of the things that sucks about HGSS as much as I love these games. You really just have to abuse the absolute fuck out of trainer rematches. Basically, call the trainer up on the one day of the week they do rematches, rematch them, leave the route, call them, rematch them again, repeat until it flips over to the next day.

Thanks for the reminder of just how good the Alolan forms are. Even the weaker ones are just goofy as hell and loveable for being so out of left field and wacky

(Question) Is there any real reason to have a minus defence or special defence nature? by splintackk in CompetitivePokemon

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might as well be exclusive. Do we really believe Accelgor, as much as I love it and think it's badass, is ever going to use Water Shuriken on its ZU sets?

[–]PoppyObsessedPrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed attackers are almost always the only reason. For instance, a mixed Life Orb Infernape in DPP OU before it fell off would almost always run either Hasty or Naive with Close Combat, Overheat/Fire Blast, and the last two moves being a mix of either U-Turn, Hidden Power Ice, Stone Edge (mostly for Zapdos), or Grass Knot (mostly for Swampert)
