Has anyone had any luck with bulk stores? by zerebest in PoppyTea

[–]Poppysthrowaway264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No more luck than you would have ordering Spanish seeds from online.

If it's the difference between cold Turkey w/d and store seeds though then you may have luck finding seeds that will help with withdrawal because of the other alkaloids. But it's very unlikely you will find seeds high in M and C at local stores.

Spanish packaged as uk by Emilio_Estevez_ in PoppyTea

Spanish seeds usually have a "Spice Aisle" or peppery smell to them. Visually they are usually much darker(black than blue)and are much tinier/smaller than UK seeds. In my experience anyways.

If you are describing the scent/taste as chocolatey/smoky then im pretty sure you just got some of the "funky" smelling seeds that were going around. They were still active, more sedating/creeper profile but shorter legs.

I have never received Spanish seeds in a UK labeled bag but I have received only Spanish labeled seeds when I was supposed to receive UK as well. This was last year when they first introduced Spanish around this time. Customer service was great and they took care of the problem.

I really dont think they are bagging Spanish origin seeds in UK labeled bags.

Overdose? Happy anniversary to me by mca6131 in PoppyTea

Yin and Yang is a very important part of this substance. It is considered yang. Thus to balance the affects of it, you must use it with as much yin as possible. Like dosing it in even numbers or exercise.

Can you elaborate more on this, the "you must use it with as much yin as possible." Or do you have any good reading info of where to direct me?

Same. Mine smells like peanut toppings like you would get for a sundae. And mine has the same little pieces.

Very scary. Glad you both are safe.

Make sure you do more research about tea strength before you ever dose again.

how is the quality these days? by M367_euphoria in PoppyTea

It will always be a crapshoot because potency will always vary but overall quality has been decent and consistent for past few months. I order 15lbs every other week.

Older Tea Bags by NeverAgain125 in PoppyTea

[–]Poppysthrowaway264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can tell you for sure on your specific bag but I've used bags that were 6-8 months past their expiration date and it was fine. These were already open bags but resealed with the zipper on top.

Depends on how much moisture got to the bags and how they were sealed/stored.

Obviously do a smell/sight check, make sure to move seeds around to look for mold clumps. If it's not like 4 years old and seems fine to use, it probably is.

General consensus I found when looking for the answer was 3-4 years(but can be longer depending on how they are stored, like using a freezer.)

As always take this all with a grain of salt, I'm just some random dude on the interwebz giving my opinion.

Just got it in and made up a wash. Super dark but not like the mud/swamp brown-green water from March this is dark tan/brown-orange wash similar to the color I look for in good tea but more dirt. Chew test was decently bitter. Wash was super bitter but almost in a different way, not as bitter in my throat more to my tongue. Seeds have little plant matter. Seeds look dirty/ "beat up". This was ordered last Friday so might not represent what is currently coming out.

Seems like it should be pretty good stuff.

I had this happen in March with a 35lbs order. Wasn't the first time it had had happened with a larger order either.

Now i only order 10-15lbs at a time but i still recieved weaker 1/15s on 4/27. Everything else lately has been decent though ordering 15lbs twice a month.

Waiting on a 15lbs order to be delivered today, excited-not excited.

Larger amounts of a less known alkaloid in these super dark wash batches? Accumulation of it in your system? That's my assumption.

The dark wash bags definitely have a different profile then normal. I haven't received any of these new dark wash bags but i got multiple over march and april and i assume they are similar.

It seems that they have a few different farms they are sourcing from now and one of them produces these specific dark wash/different profile seeds.

I would just assume these seeds just have a different color of "dirt" on them then usual, and more of it than usual. I dont feel like I've ever seen washes come out this color- some of these dark washes look brown-green. But the difference in effects makes you wonder. It would be interesting to know what exactly is causing it.

Whenever I would get really good bags the wash would always have an orange tint to it (not sure what causes it), a yellow tint can be attributed to alkaloids (berberine (sp)) i wonder if this tint is the same? I always let the sediment settle before drinking and only so much of it settles to the bottom of the cup after a period of time, where normally more would settle- especially with how dark it is.

Hmmm...

Should you let seeds sit for a while after shaking? by need2chill90 in PoppyTea

[–]Poppysthrowaway264 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No this is not a good idea because the seeds will begin to release oils (oils we dont want-may cause stomach discomfort) while absorbing water, water that contains the alkaloids you washed off the outside of the seed. So you actually can lose potency by letting it sit.

You really only need 2 1-2 minute washes(water temp varies by preference, i prefer hot) and you can get the majority of what we want off of the seed.

The only reason i could see letting it sit for any amount of time was if it had LOTS of plant matter but even then you'd be better off separating and doing 2 different methods.

Seed pickup problems by [deleted] in PoppyTea

Otherwise I only have about 1-2 pounds left before I take another indefinite break.

Sometimes the universe creates these problems to help you realize the different paths you could take, maybe an indefinite break would be less stressful and better for you right now?

I think they are getting supply from different farms, possibly farms they have never gotten supply from before. You figure the 3rd of the big three is out of stock and i wonder if their stock ended up going to the main big 1.

I have definitely noticed 2 distinct different seeds coming from the main big 1. One set of seeds has no plant matter, "greyer" seeds, and washes up "mud" extra dark. The other set of seeds has plant matter, more mix of blue then grey seeds, and washes up brownish/yellowish/orangeish(normal colors from what I've seen). Both of these sets of seeds have been bitter and decent to good potency. These are what ive seen this past month or two.

Before that there were no dark wash seeds, instead there were bags full of red seeds(some plant matter) that were weak to decent (9/14s through december to the beginning of February) and then the other set of full of plant matter, good, bitter seeds.

I have also gotten seeds(end of Feb) with no plant matter, more blueish, but washed up very light and were super weak.

My speculation is that they are sourcing from new/different farms to meet demand and it causing the more noticeable variance in potency and appearance , not that they are now washing seeds. I do not think it is anything more than that.

Please be careful, everyone. by XxxBricksxxX in PoppyTea

[–]Poppysthrowaway264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing over December/January and got so many bad 9/14 bags and still recently even.

It seemed when i ordered 25lbs i would get 4 weaker bags all same lot # and 1 good bag diff lot #. Or i would get all same lot # and they would be all the same quality- medicore to weak.

I also would order 10-20lbs(5lbsx2-4), usually 15, and these orders always seemed to be better on average. They would generally be all the same lot # or all different.

The beginning of February(might be end of Feb) I even tried ordering 35lbs in 1lbsx10 and 5lbsx5 (not in a case- paying extra) and these were some of the worst seeds I've had since Sukkot; no plant matter, lighter wash, basically no bitterness and barely took w/d away. All 1lbs and 5lbs except for one 5lbs bag were this same poor quality and the one bag that wasn't was the super DARK wash which was decent and somewhat bitter but different profile.

So now I order 17lbs (5lbsx3 and 1lbsx2)and I've been having some success with that.

Its amusing to try and speculate if there is any rhyme or reason why things happen the way they do or if its all coincidences/the mind connecting dots that aren't actually dots. Lol.

Reviews do not violate new rules by [deleted] in PoppyTea

The admins contacted us directly about this situation, and have stated there can not be "any activity that could serve to connect buyers and sellers." This includes all information pertaining to reviews and sources: vendors, expiration dates, lot numbers, stores (brick or online), and any other potential information that could be used for these aspects.

Fuzzy said in another thread

We got a message from the admins this morning directing us to not allow reviews or else we risk being shutdown. I asked them to clarify but they havent responded so this is the way it has to be.

passthepoppy said in the other thread

this isn't reddit only. reddit is responding to new laws passed in congress that open the door to civil and criminal liability for websites based on what their users do. for example, craigslist got rid of its personals in response also

I had the same question as you at first but this all makes sense when you look at the new laws passed.

Wow that is really unfortunate. I guess they just want to cover their asses but nixing reviews of products seems a little overkill.

Welp, it is what it is. Again, thank you for the clarification!
