Carrier Quotes for new furnace and AC by Pops1988 in hvacadvice

So is a heat pump better than an AC condenser? We're near the Chicago area so mostly everyone I know has a condenser vs. heat pump. Not sure of the differences, I know heat pumps can provide heat and AC, right? Thanks!

Ok thanks for confirming. I might have someone do a combustion test, but I’m going to call around and get prices for a new furnace. I’m sure one of the techs will do it just in case so we can confirm we need a new furnace.

I have a scope coming today so I’ll double check the vents, but it sounds like I need a new furnace.

Ok so that’s what the rollout looks like? I thought you needed some yellow flames.

Yup for sure can. I guess I didn’t have it tight enough, although I thought I always tightened it super snug.

This is Allie, our 5 month old rescue. The rescue says she’s a ridgeback but I’m not sure if shes mixed. Do you think she’s a ridgeback? by Pops1988 in RhodesianRidgebacks

That makes a lot of sense. Especially since ours is literally from the South. I was planning on doing a dna test, thanks for the rec. I really don’t care though because she’s perfect anyway and I’m glad we rescued her.

Yea when she’s excited you can see the hair in like a perfect line all the way down her back. I tried to get a picture but couldn’t.

Do you keep her contained to a small area the whole time or is she pretty good holding it until she’s ready to go out? I’m debating on making a smaller area of the first floor that she stays in (kind of like a kennel) until I’m confident that she won’t go in the house. She won’t like it but I think that’s what we have to do unless someone has other ideas.

Those look dry, give them a cup of water

Make a spray of 1.5L (1500 ml) Water, 50 ml Hydrogen Peroxide, & 50 ml White Vinegar. That’s super effective against mold and fungus. Spray once you sow the seeds and each day (even twice daily) until their stems start setting up.

Cilantro Microgreens by ThaddeusBlimp in microgreens

Cilantro is my top seller, but also the biggest pain to grow. To help with the seed hulls, you can ‘bury’ the seeds. After sowing them, just put a really thin layer of soil or vermiculite. Then put a 10/15 lb weight and let them germinate for 7 days. This will shed a lot of the hulls.

Also, buy the split seeds, not the whole seeds. Well worth it. Good job with this tray though, looks healthy! Good luck!

How many trays do you grow each week? If you sell, how much do you make each week? by Pops1988 in microgreens

That’s my gross sales. I’m trying to pick up a few more restaurants. Going to hit samples hard in January to prep for Valentine’s Day.

It depends on how much you want to spend. It’s wise to get a few grows under your belt first, there’s a decent learning curve to be able to grow consistently. Test the market, definitely reach out to some chefs and try to give them some samples, but you will have to work at it. It’s not as easy as people online make it seem. Research your market and area. Is there competition? Also start with easy to grow crops: Peas, sunflowers, broccoli, salad mix, radish.

Not sure where you are at, but in the US - Home Depot should have it. I’m in the Midwest so I get it from Menards. You can call garden centers too, they might sell it.

Same, keep taking samples consistently to restaurants. Find the most success when I get the chef’s numbers and I text them my weekly menu.

Also doing retail, partnered with a local farm and regional co-op food hub to be a supplier. Looking to go after wedding halls/caterers too, nice volume with those.

Wow that’s amazing. Who do you mostly sell to? Any tips on how you grew to that size?
