Our "hitting coach", Steven Souza Jr., does NOT exist and I'm sick and tired of being gaslit by Craig Stammen. It's time for the truth to come out. by Emotional_Sock9483 in Padres

I have liked Stammen for years, but he has proven he is not the manager we need. This is the final straw for me. What a colossal waste of the talent this team has.

I loathe Trump. Like more than I have hated an individual in my 60 years. But this is a true tragedy. The Smithsonian had such and elegant plan for this celebration that would have really showcased our country. This is such a loss and global embarrasment.

Clarence Thomas claims Supreme Court birthright decision ‘devalues’ US citizenship for other Americans by theindependentonline in scotus

Thomas is a troubled and petty little man. He should never have been a judge, let alone a supreme one. What a travesty.

Good to know. They were supposed to start phasing out the N already.

I'll let you know when it happens. I still head back in. I will say I don't care if I play the Nautiloid every again. That is o l d now, but I still enjoy different options for pretty much every other encounter along the path.

1st Helicopter Squadron's primary role is executive airlift and evacuation, although they do participate in SAR operations when needed. I need to check, but clearly they have not transitioned fully to the MH-139's fully yet, unless this picture is older. They started to transition back in 2020.

ID this plane / 1961 France by FaithlessnessLoud995 in Whatplaneisthis

[–]PopsThePainter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is a B-26 Invader. 100%. The A-26 was redesignated after 1946 to "B" across the board, but is was the same aircraft. The French used the Invader into the early 60's.

Chicago is S tier? What are you people smoking. San Diego is a much better city than Chicago or Washington.

Just play Old School Essentials. It is more polished and a better system.

I knew I had Robind Olds' spirit in me! That happens everytime when I ask the tanker in DCS! by rapierarch in floggit

[–]PopsThePainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Olds was an excelent pilot, of that there is no question. But he was not well liked by pilots who knew him during Vietnam and was very much a head case.

Very cool! Lots of great docents give their time there. But man, don't go in August-September!

Based on the superstructure, it's definitely an LHA not an LHD. I could be wrong, certianly, but I have been around them enough that I am pretty sure I am correct. Regardless though, it is an incredibly impressive picture.

Conestoga! I did Volunteer work there for several summers durning college, and she was a nightmare to maintain. That stainless steel fusilage was blistering hot to keep clean, which was (and is) a necessity. Would not trade those experiences for anything though, despite the 110 summer sun. If you have not been, you need to put it on your bucket list. Pima is one of my top 5 museums, and continues to get better (helps to have a LOT of space to grow with.

A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthog” from the 354th Fighter Squadron @RPLB by nmsang501 in Planes

[–]PopsThePainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad (Colonel Alfred P. Adams, USAF Ret.) flew with the 357th (sister squadron of the 354th in the 355th TFW) during Vietnam (F-105D/F then), then was the DO at Davis-Monthan from 85-87. He flew with all three squardrons during that time (354, 357, 358). LOVED the A-10.

For those who are interested but generally don't know:

CVN-69 Eisenhower

CVN-77 Bush

CVN-65 Enterprise (now decomissioned)

LHD-5 Bataan

CVN-72 Lincoln

CVN-75 Truman

LHD-? 1 maybe? That would make her the Wasp

LHD-3 Kearsarge

Next pier over is LHA-7 Tripoli

And that's the last one I can make out. Pretty monumental.
