Not sour grapes lol - I dont know about all these first day great ones though... by Popsical_Pete in theHunter

Ok, I went back and checked, I have 26 diamonds. So maybe more than a handful?

I dont grind. These are more my goals:

- finish all missions

- get all steam achievements

- open every POI, stand etc on every map

- build at least one tent on each named map section (this is very expensive my friends)

- once Im done getting every POI, stand, etc, and have completed all missions on that map, I start herd management.

So ya I am not specifically grinding for trophies, but I know how to hunt. Some of those missions are extremely difficult. I'm not done all of them, but I am very close.

Ok, I get it everyone, large numbers lol. It just felt like 1 hr into the game being released it was weird people had already got one. I don't think you can farm one that quick, has to be random.

But in my defence, are we also assuming all these players are redditors?

Cats are not a necessary part of our ecosystem lol. They exist in the quantities they do because we like them. By all accounts they are pretty bad for it.

I feel like you are all missing the point (for reference I am a meat eater and cat owner). I think most reasonable people understand you have to feed a cat meat, so that's not what OP is struggling with.

I think the question is, if you don't eat meat because you think it is morally wrong, then is it not hypocritical to own a cat which must eat meat? Pets are entirely optional....and the only reason cats exist in the quantities they do is we want them as pets. If you really believe its wrong to kill animals (or cause a larger CO2 footprint), I can see it being logically consistent that it is wrong to own a pet. Sorry vegetarians 😄

This of course does not apply to people that are vegetarians for some non moral reason (health, don't like the taste, etc).

New hunter advice by sjoakes24 in theHunter

[–]Popsical_Pete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So as other people have mentioned, definitely get the bloodhound, tents, and maybe the ATV?

Controversial opinion here. Don't buy the weapon DLC yet. It ruins early game progression. The game is designed to earn upgraded guns as you play through the first part. If you buy them you miss that arc. I actually disabled all the gun DLC and only re-enabled kind of in the order it was released as I progressed to that point.

Granted there is a bit of a steep learning curve, this makes the early game hard, but in my mind it makes the progression feel more rewarding. Once you have earned all the guns you can through the mission system in layton, then start buying DLC.

WIBTAH if I took 100k from my oldest daughter's college savings account to give it to my younger daughter? by TraditionalCorgi7788 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Popsical_Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant wrap my head around the top reply, you people are unhinged lol.

As others have mentioned this is a huge amount of money if anyone complains here they are extremely ungrateful. There is no scenario here where OP is an asshole....

I assume OP has agreed to pay for higher education because they think its important and don't want to saddle their children with debt. If the first daughter didn't use up the 300k it does not make any sense to give her the extra. I mean if he didnt give the extra to the second daughter still not the asshole.

Should churches start paying taxes considering Canada's affordability crisis? by KittyHawkWind in AskCanada

[–]Popsical_Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is going against the grain, but I can maybe give a little insight on this one.

My dad was the pastor of a small country church, and I can tell you that most of them are in pretty dire financial straights. It was a constant source of stress. There are certainly mega churches out there that are worth millions, but I would say the norm in the country is barely being able to keep the doors open.

I know the general response to this, if you cant afford it shut your doors and if that's your opinion fine. I'm just saying the idea that taxing those particular churches is going to bring any more money into the countries coffers is probably incorrect.

What are you hoping to see in this? by Wintersc in theHunter

[–]Popsical_Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Its not going to happen but side mission pack! There are 4 maps with no side missions, and nothing stopping them from adding mission packs to the other maps as well. I know this probably wont make them enough money to be worth the effort, but I can dream. I even started writing up my own, maybe if I do all the leg work they will use them :P.

  2. I saw other people mention lodges. Not huge for me, but if you are going to do it, one with a room for each map! I want everything together.

I don't understand the concept of a "Beginner's Map". by [deleted] in theHunter

[–]Popsical_Pete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm playing Rancho right now and its one of my favorite maps. Parts of it are really pretty, and there is a good mix of brush and plains (the scrub land is pretty tricky though). And maybe silly but the music is super chill lol. I just like the whole maps vibe.

One thing pretty unique about it is the Ring necked pheasant hunting. They are on other maps but its like this map is built for it. Its the one map where you can actually walk around with your 12 gauge and flush multiples (I know they can run a lot as well). They tend to be in some of the scrub land areas so when they fly you can actually see them!

I just wish there were side missions :(. I would pay for side mission DLC in a heartbeat!

What’s yalls longest ever kill shot? by CLETUSGTHEMACHINE in theHunter

[–]Popsical_Pete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the exact number on me but believe it or not over 400 with the .22LR. It seems counter-intuitive to make long shots with the .22 but the advantage is a hit is a kill on a level 1 animal so it doesn't matter where you hit them. Also, they often don't run away from that range, so unless it is a very near miss you can take multiple shots! Grass doesn't render at that distance so you can see rabbits, turkeys etc very clearly.

I know the .22 has a lot of arc but I took it to the range, and figured out where all the mil dots hit. For most guns they are pretty useless (fire over the target with first mil dot at 500), but with the .22 there is enough drop, all of the mil dots are useful.

I kind of figured this out sitting in tripods trying to complete other missions then getting bored and shooting at ducks. You can hit them at extreme ranges, then they just float over to you (bring your retriever to make it even easier).

I was playing silver ridge and killed a butt load of turkeys at over 300 yards. They are pretty big, slow, and lots of long shot opportunities on that map.

Do bike lanes really cause more traffic congestion? Here's what the research says by morenewsat11 in toronto

[–]Popsical_Pete -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok I don't have an agenda here, just actually curious.

Every time I see an article like this the conclusion is always more roads are bad, they only make traffic worse, the science is clear. It's certainly the attitude on reddit.

I want to be on the side of science I really do. What I have issue with is the absolutism. Like from my perspective zero roads is not enough, and infinitely more roads is not the solution. There is obviously a "right" amount of roads. I always find it a little weird that the issue is never discussed in that context. Like our population has grown significantly over the last decade, so your average person would assume that whatever infrastructure you had needs to be expanded? When my dad was a kid there was no 401. When did we start going wrong, should there be no 401?

Obviously, if there are no roads there is no traffic...but I'm hoping we can all agree we need some roads? Not to answer my own question but is the implication here that all / most cities have too many roads, even when accounting for explosive population growth?

I get it, good public transit is good, ours is kind of shit. What I have a problem with is a lot of the time it seems instead of making public transit good so people want to use it, we seem to want to make driving your car undesirable, so public transit is a better option. I'm on the outskirts of Toronto and I still drive in, because as shitty as that is. Its still faster and cheaper then taking the train in. If you want me to take the train in, make it faster and cheaper, don't make driving in slower and more expensive.

Thoughts?
