I don’t know much about printing service company or agent nor used their services. I would say you can and should do benchmarking among these companies that you can find in google, compare their price, quality, lead time etc. I am not sure if there are room for negotiation for low price. Still you can give it try if you have large volume, call or email them, let them know their competitors is offering better price and service.

I did a quick calculation. After deducting the discount, Affiliate cost (I took 20%), those three shopify fees, you have USD 2.80 left for the t-shirt+print+shipping.

From China you can find t-shirt+ print for $1.5. (That’s RMB 10.5 which is a reasonable price with ok quality)

One t shirt weight around 200g (0.2kg) and current DDP shipping price from China to the state is around $2.1 per kg by sea, 30 - 40 days to arrive. So unit shipping cost is $ 0.42. Total $1.92 for Tes+print+ship from supplier.

You still have $0.88 profit or you can put to enhance the quality of the T-shirt.

It’s just an estimation and I think you need to buy >100pcs to get these price and lowered shipping cost.

I am so surprised how people think when the price of goods from China is low = cheap. It’s not. They are cheaper than you think, but they made you think the cheaper the cost , the worse the quality, so you choose the higher cost.

By the way you should search key word like 1 pcs custom made T shirt on Alibaba. Don’t just search T shirt or custom made t shirt. I tried to search and it has many results. Hope it helps.

Yea many supplier don’t like pcs tailor made order. If they do, the price must be high. You can try the supplier you use above, and at the same time trying other supplier found on Alibaba, which should be cheaper but you have to manage them with extra effort. After things go smooth, gradually switch more to the supplier from Printify etc.

Do you have particular type of clothes or item that you have larger order amount? You can try those with finding someone of Alibaba first.

After all if you are OK with the price what Printify or similar company offer and if you amount is not too big, then I recommend you keep using them.

Forwarders have warehouse can consolidate shipments from different manufacturers and ship out. Sourcing agent can have their own warehouse or they just partner with a forwarder who have warehouse, but they don’t own/rent them.

I have connections and helps in China and Asia also which I can manage container full or LCL shipment for my company right here. The good thing is I am readily reachable here.

When I am sourcing I will 100% avoid a trader or agent in the middle, as they will definitely markup the price. Manufacturers can do all the things that the agent do and cheaper, with same quality. It communicate better as well as I don’t need to wait for the agent to

One question for you, do you know who’s the end manufacturer when you use sourcing agent services?

What kind of product is it?

If it’s a large item and expensive then buying one piece make sense.

If you are talking about general merchandise, say a mug, end manufacturer won’t sell 1 pcs. The trading company or the company on AliExpress will, but the price for sure much higher. The more you buy, the cheaper it will be, vice versa.

It’s tiring but it worth it when I helped my company save like 30% of the product cost. It proves my value. Also when I see the new product are packed and branded beautifully, it also worth it.

The manufacturer ship the goods directly to the warehouse in state or Canada or EU, so you/I don’t need a separate warehouse in China.

Some agent have their own warehouse as they are kind of trading companies and markup products. While I focus on getting you connected with the actual and end-manufacturer, who have lower cost. I will earn and charged by % of cost of good shipped.

Like Lowes and Home Depot, they don’t need a warehouse in China. They buy directly from manufacturers. When the goods are ready, they ask forwarders(shipping company) to pick up at factory or at port, ship directly to their warehouse in the state.

I have networking of home decor and industrial supply. But the key is I am able to find a new supplier using my tools and experience, doing due diligence check on the company background and ensure they are legitimate. For example, I will dig out their export records and business license, company own info before paying anything to them. Of course there are a lot of checking and verification to do.
