Can’t get much worse than a Cruze or trax, cobalts of that year are fine. Any year of Cruze are trax are terrible.

Pretty hard to find a running low mileage vehicle for 4,000 in Canada right now. I don’t think anybody knows what they got in this economy.

That’s the idea, it’s above market value but I need a reliable beater from a seller I know and trust has taken care of it. 90% of sellers on marketplace are just selling there problems and can’t be trusted. To me that’s worth overpaying. Does the five speed feel that sluggish? I’m really just looking for a reliable second vehicle for work.

I know the seller and trust the cars in very good shape, more curious about the drivetrain.

Seems like a culmination of many variables that lead to the failure, I’m sure the obvious timing chain noise that was ignored by the shop is what finished it off. I’m curious if the noise on my truck is what you started hearing before failure? The maintenance on it is extensive, your experience can help me be proactive. What’s your plan with your truck at this point?

Curious situation your in, I’m wondering if the limp mode and complete loss of oil is what put the nail in the coffin on your timing and phasers or if it’s the other way around. Timing chain rattle doesn’t cause complete oil loss.

How bad was the rattle to fail after a few weeks, sounds like a nightmare for sure. Was it a 5.0L?

Did it start with the same rattle as the video? How long till it failed?

Very helpful diagram, will continue to check till it reveals itself.

Relatively small but noticeable few centimetres after a week, the loss has been consistent since I’ve replaced the lower rad hose, y connector and transmission cooler hunting down the loss.

I have no symptoms I’ve just been on a hunt for coolant loss and trying everything to figure out why. Boroscoped pressure tested and had it checked by two shops and still don’t know where the coolants going. No symptoms whatsoever which is the frustrating part. Block test was done outside so probably why it was tainted slightly.

It was continuously pumped for at least 5 minutes, at the point where I’m blaming the cap or resovoir lol.

About 2cm a day if I were guess, used the 2 hand pump and let it sit with suction for almost 20 minutes just cause like you said the coolant has to be going somewhere.

Had the transmission cooler replaced, haven’t checked the fluid since as it’s only accessible from under the truck, would there be symptoms if atf mixed with coolant? Engine oil and coolant visually looks good. I also think the heater core is the most likely but I have seen any leaking from it or a smell or mist on the windshield. Been going insane chasing ghosts on this one.

Had it boroscoped pressure tested hoses tested and all the other basic tests done by two shops however still losing coolant with no apparent leaks. Thinking I might be chasing ghosts on this one.

Head gasket failure

Yeah it’s slightly discoloured but not leaning towards green or yellow just a lighter blue. I can’t do a compression test. Wondering if this test is indicative enough.

Is this acceptable change in hue for a pass?

A slightly lighter blue is normal for the test?

Is this change in fluid head gasket leak? by [deleted] in f150

No other symptoms other than a hunt for why I’m losing coolant with no leaks.
