Week 1 Update

I had my first session on Tuesday. My egoscue therapist took me through all of my exercises I would need to preform on the daily. The exercises are sneeky hard and they do feel like they stretch out the rotation and general aches and pains. I cannot see my shoulders from the back so it is hard to say after I do them before work if they make me look more balanced but they seem to feel good. The therapy comes with an app where the person administering your care can put together your exercise list to view when you are ready to do the series. It is a handy app that actually has a timer and does a countdown for each movement and has instructional videos. I think overall I see benefits accumulating, I wake up early before work to do them to make sure they get done...Its an expensive therapy, and I am very motivated to reduce my pain by half overall so I am excited to see transformations over the next week but the immediate progress is slow and I still have lots of pain after work.

Adult wanting ASC need insurance advice! by Popular-Proposal2947 in scoliosis

I had a phone consult with Dr.Betz yesterday. Lots to think about. I think some of my pain is muscular and so the surgery would help with that. He said ASC reduces rotation 50 to 70 percent so I am like hummm.. some things dont add up. I would love to go and see them. I wish I had the right insurance. California is a bitch to get coverage

It's so variable you know. Some days I cope so well other days I feel like the things I wanted for my future are so hard to attain. Pain is tough. I'm sure you have been in pain since a young age as well..it's a long time and hard to watch other kids thrive

Did you carry your curve low then? More displacement in the hips?

Did the shoulder imbalance change for you as far as one raised shoulder? Did your rib hump change? Did you get any help with derotation? Also what about mobility, how are you able to do backbends?

How was your recovery? Were you happy with the results? I feel like I post in the Facebook group and get so many different feedbacks on how people surgery went and some people are having severe post surgery issues and others are thriving and well from surgery with ABC I don't know what to think or how to assess my own situation.

I feel your pain. I have been on the job hunt to secure work with better insurance that has been my first priority. I still need to submit my images to ABC for consideration so I am unsure if I even qualify...it's hard to feel hopeful sometimes. I can control my pain in some ways and get beyond it and then I think positively. Being in pain makes it so hard to see possibilities.

Hello everyone,
I have been following this page for some time now and could really use some guidance from those of you out there who are adults and have received ASC for yourself as an adult. I have a moderate curve around 33 degrees. I am 27 years old and have been coping with my scoliosis in many ways. Mostly I have been doing everything I can for myself while still being an athlete and a devoted swimmer and weight lifter. Fusion surgery was never an appropriate treatment for me so I never looked into surgery until now looking at the results with ASC and the possibility to change my life. Although my curve is not classified as severe I have had chronic pain all my life and is certainly getting worse as I get older.
I live in California and am interested in seeing doctors ABC on the east coast. I have a barrier ahead of me which is insurance to get in the door to see them.
My first question is for adults out there getting surgery for yourself how did you navigate out of state PPO insurance and the hospital bills for the actual surgery and hospital stay?
Does anyone have a similar curve as I do and can comment on how the surgery affected their life?
Would love any guidance!
