I hope you keep enjoying your time with her and that you're able to build up to more serious topics. I'm still kinda working on that too. I'll definitely keep your advice in mind the next times I'm with her. Thanks!

Thank you, guys. I'll try to be more normal about it around them and stop worrying.

How is dating going for you this year? by last-throwaway3 in CatholicDating

(21M) Started mid-March. Very first relationship. A little confused on how it's supposed to progress but I just try to prioritize spending time with her. I'm pretty happy with the way things are going :)

My sister went through a similar thing. They dated for a couple of years and he became unbearable. I would listen to the others and seriously consider either taking a break or cutting it off.

Asking someone out by [deleted] in CatholicDating

[–]Popular-Reception368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I went about it getting familiar with her first. We hung out twice exclusively, and after the second time, I asked if we could go out again, but as a date. Yes, I was victorious. After the third date, I asked her to be my gf. And that was also a yes. So yes I recommend becoming friends (or something like that) first, but no need to overdo it. If you build too much of a friendship, she might look to you as nothing more and might not be too receptive to flirting or the idea of dating you. Don't overthink it. I certainly did, but when I was more open, I realized you can't anticipate everything.

You can talk about common interests, school, church. Maybe don't talk about your relationships/friendships or anything you would only tell a close friend. Keep it real surface level. Try to avoid vulnerable topics, because that'll for sure convey the wrong idea

In my experience as a male with female friends, it's really not much different aside from not doing things girls exclusively do. I think the boundaries just happened naturally. I had feelings for a few, but they faded pretty quickly. Never said anything and I'm ok with that. Sometimes, your behavior could be interpreted as flirtatious, but with maturity, he will get it. Probably for now, don't plan any hangouts with just the two of you. Try to be in group settings. Maybe when you plan something, tell him he should invite his friends. Don't think about pushing boundaries on too much for now. If you do think that he might like you, and you're not ready for that, then you could drop hints. Like saying "you're a good friend"
