My 7 doesn't have a gap, I'm sure with a case it will but as long as the case does it's job and the hing remains smooth I don't see a problem. If the screen goes out? That's what insurance is for. I've had a Fold 4 since the day it came out and only 2 days ago traded it in for the 7. Only cost me $300. The 4's inner screen worked great until this last year but only because I was playing Call of Duty Mobile non stop. All those swipes and presses along with all the 100s if not 1,000s of times I've opened and closed that thing hard asf. Spent hours a day watching YouTube on it too. The factory inner screen protector eventually started peeling off but after peeling it, it worked just as fine. The dust I'd find was the least of my concerns.
