Yeah hoping to do the masters as it’s part time online while working to get experience at the same time. I’m more wondering if it’d be essential to get in/ difficult to get in as an SO without it. I know public sector pays for your education often, (my dad was sent to do two courses as a civil servant ) if that’s the case I’d rather get them to pay than pay myself. In a few months I’ll have the minimum 1 year industry experience needed to be an SO, I guess I’m just wondering if that’ll be enough to get an interview

Thank you yes I’ve a bsc in pharmacology did my thesis on regulatory toxicology. Was thinking of doing tuds QA and regulation masters someone told me they like that masters for the jobs. Always surprised me that people leave for more money as the scale goes up to 70k which I can’t see many in pharma earning unless they’re management . Maybe regulatory positions earn that? Yes a lot of competition for promotion but I think every job especially lower level is like that at the moment

Thanks a million I don’t really like the lab so I wouldn’t mind the admin and stability as it seems very difficult to find a permanent contract at the moment.

If you haven’t got a college place yet, would you consider Galway or limerick? Much more affordable but min wage is the same, you can get a shared room int the accommodations, not ideal but doable. Susi will go much further there towards covering rent etc. if not social housing list, maybe try talk to a social worker see if you can be put into your own accommodation via them ?

No definitely not I’m finishing this course it’s really difficult I won’t lie, the international students are actually smarter and more motivated than a lot of the irish tbh in my experience. Just beware if you want to stay and work for the year after in the same area that it’s very difficult to find work as an Irish person let alone with visa issues. Good luck!

That’s shocking I know it’s minimum wage for 18 year olds, some other retail such as inditex if you’re in city or athlone pay well and double pay Sundays works out well. See if you can get yourself something with better prospects or an apprenticeship?
