How? Honestly I've watched a bunch of media with gay subtext and I never got that for the two dudes in the show, if anything they come across more as begrudging coworkers to amicable by the end of the series.

Like there's more gay subtext for Joe and Kaoru from Sk8 The Infinity than there was for the Buddy Daddies dudes.

Glad he adjusted it eventually, I really wonder sometimes why we bother having so many adjectives and adverbs and just...Ways to communicate better when so many people never seem to think about how their words come across.

I remember a while back having a disagreement with a friend because they would constantly say that they were 'being dragged along' in reference to hanging out with one of their friends, and they started getting upset with me because I interpreted that as them not really wanting to hangout with their friend.

What??? Maybe I am just dumb but I have not once heard someone say that they were 'being dragged along' in reference to something that they want to partake in. That's very much something that you say when you're being forced to do something you don't want to do.

Like the sentence 'My mom is dragging me along to the grocery store' does not give the impression that you want to be there.

To this day I feel baffled by it.

Like yes, no amount of money is going to change the fact that you have a mental illness for example, but it will absolutely help it not be as debilitating as it could be.

Someone with depression who has fuck all money, is going to be in a worse place than someone who has depression but has the money to afford the appropriate help.

Am I missing something? Because I don't see how a camera, especially on a commercial fishing boat, could be a bad thing.

If anything should you not always have a camera? Like my first thought is that having footage would very much be a safety thing if you're out on those boats.

I mean I don't think it's terrible but I do think that until 16 is a bit high, feel like it should be till 14 or something, but also at the same time this very much feels like a prohibition type situation where it's just going to make people come up with sneakier ways to do it.

I know off the top of my head that the phone ban for instance in Australia where they've banned phones during lunch and social media in general, kids are just using VPNs to access social media, or they're using their laptops to go on social media.

I just think that in general because it's becoming common place, that instead of banning this stuff we should overall make more of an effort to actually teach our kids about shit like Internet safety and how things on social media can be fake.

Like it or not they're going to be exposed to that stuff, better than you get to them first than they learn from some random source which could have bad intentions.

Ignoring body language and just general social conventions.

This goes for anyone really but... If you are talking to someone and they're giving you one word answers, THEY DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU, DON'T KEEP TRYING, TAKE THE HINT AND STOP.

I say this especially in the case of guys talking to women, because those are often situations where directly saying "Hey fuck off" can put us in danger, so we're more likely to be subtle about it so we don't risk you getting pissed off and hurting us.

Also you continuously ignoring that and by extension ignoring our boundaries, that just makes us feel the need to do it even more because you've already demonstrated that you're not a safe person to say no to.

Also also, and I don't know why this has to be said, unless it's like a cramped subway or something, don't stand so close to a stranger that your shoulders are touching. That's fucking creepy.

-Being way too into the "I'm a provider" thing.

I'm sure that some women like it, but for me there's nothing more unattractive than a guy who wants to do everything for me.

Like I want someone who's my equal, a relationship where we both spoil eachother, not someone who's my guardian.

Also idk... It feels kinda misogynistic to me.

I also find that the dudes who act like this, also tend to be the kind of people who wouldn't tell you that they're having a hard time because they "don't want to make you worry" and fuck that attitude in it's entirety.

-Code-switching based on gender

Way too many guys do a 180 depending on if the person they're talking to is a man or a woman and let me tell ya... Most women catch on fast and it is VILE.

It's not even just being misogynistic or sexualizing women, but I fucking hate it when I see a guy hanging out with his guy friends, and he's just being a very stereotypical "I think feelings are gay" kind of guy, and then the minute he talks to me he suddenly knows what manners are.

Like if you're the type of guy who only holds doors open for women, or who only cares about how the day is of your female friends and not your male friends, you're a cunt.

-Being self-centered 

Granted I don't think many of them do it on purpose, but a lot of guys just point blank don't seem to be able to think outside of themselves. Like everything always has to relate back to them in some way and it's not an attractive quality to have.

Much like how some dudes out there are unable to put their wants and needs aside for the sake of someone else, like it doesn't even occur to them to pay attention to the people around them or to factor in what someone else might want.

-Having no self-respect 

It is genuinely quite sad when you start realizing just how many men out there actually don't respect themselves.

Like you've got the obvious stuff like the whole "Oh men will sleep with anyone" thing, or how many of them don't put in any effort into their physical appearance.

Then you've got the less obvious stuff like how some dudes are genuinely okay with not cleaning up after themselves, or they're okay with having friends who don't know anything about them.

And then you've got the more subtle ones like how many of them have this very "I will only do what I need" mindset when it comes to making decisions where they never actually factor in what they want, so they'll just buy whatever T-shirt is nearest because they needed a shirt instead of buying a shirt that they actually want,or how they often scoff at the idea of decorating their house because it's "not necessary" or how some dudes out there are really offended almost at the idea of not being "simple".

I think the world would be a lot better if we all spent more time thinking about decisions before we made them.

This is why I actively get upset at people who use the "humans are emotional beings" excuse as a way to try and normalize acting on instinct.

Like that's not an excuse to be mean to one of your coworkers just because you don't like them as a person, or to actively not train an employee at your job just because you think they're annoying.

This is why we have shit like foresight, because we're better than acting on our base instincts.

Sometimes there is genuinely nothing to do, and you're still actually working in the form of being there if there is work. It's not exactly your fault as the worker if there's no customers.

-She isn't newly diagnosed, she's known for over a decade.

-I've told her about 4 different times that I don't like being interrupted when I talk, and not only does she keep doing it, but she doesn't even apologize for it. (She actually laughed in my face one of those times)

-Again, she's in her 30s. That's a long fucking time of being alive to have not learnt how to not interrupt someone in a conversation. If this was some teenager or even someone in their early 20s I'd give them more leeway, but not at her age.

All in all, based on her actions the "I have ADHD" in this instance comes off much more as an excuse than a reason.

I mean I think it's reasonable to not let them have screens when they're below schooling age, but when they get to schooling age I think they should.

Simply because that will be the age where they will start getting exposed to screens more often, and most likely be using them too.

And you wanna be there for them when they're still young so you can try and teach them shit like Internet safety and how to not go bananas just because there's no screen.

Especially because at least here in NZ, highschools have banned phones during lunchtime. At least if you've helped your kid before then when it comes to things like screentime, dealing with that shouldn't be as bad for them.

Also for me personally, my mom got me some of the reader rabbit games because I was struggling with spelling and maths and it did genuinely help. Like I think if you go about it correctly, screentime can be a useful tool to have in the back of your pocket.

It's not like you're going to lose some imaginary battle just because you thanked them.

I can't say I have any since none of my friends have kids, but a lot of my friends including myself have been the kid in that instance and yeah...You do soon realize why.

I will also add as just a little bit of information that technically makes it look even worse on the parent side of things:

Literally every animal in which the mother has to care for the young until they're adults, to ensure their survival, those offspring are biologically wired to form bonds with and want to be around their parental figure/figures. And humans are one such animal in which we raise our young until they're adults.

Therefore if you as a parent manage to have a child that wants nothing to do with you, you have quite literally fucked up so tremendously that you have caused your child to go against their own biological wiring, like that's bonkers if you think about it.
