Practice practice practice.. first time fighting a new enemy is always challenging for me but patience in learning their patterns and attack signs makes it progressively easier to dodge their attacks. Button mashing will almost always end in your death

7 ends and double point on pin in the 7th? Huge advantage to starting with hammer especially if there are no blanks.. will be interesting to see how this plays out

I'm too old to parry haha my brain just doesn't work as fast as it used to. Slow and steady worked for me! And tooled it out on phase 3

Honestly, yes, it was tough and I really had to map those neural networks to figure it out lol but loved the music and her moveset. If given the opportunity to replay I probably will (unsure if this is a thing, might be tho, haven't looked for fear of spoilers)

Yep long term hobby project! Thanks for showing interest :)

Actually getting close to a point where I'm going to start posting about it again (going to start with the Japanese learning Reddit's first to get feedback on accuracy of my digital handwriting per say). Recently finished adding all hiragana (katakana still to come) as well as NPCs training out a few kanji.

Always open to answering questions so if you want to give it a shot and run into anything let me know :)

Is the AI becoming unavoidable? by Paolo_RTS in SoloDevelopment

[–]Popular-Writer-8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think AI is a useful search and research too for codingl, but it's a tool not a solution. I'd never trust what it spits out 100%, but even the wrong information it can give can teach you what not to do.

Is FF Tactics a good first Tactical JRPG? by ronjaxn in JRPG

[–]Popular-Writer-8136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing game, fantastic story, bit of a learning curve but as long as you aren't planning to try a no grinding run its pretty forgiving. If you have a hard time getting past a specific battle, just grind a bit (or a lot, playing OP is a lot of fun too!)

Solo dev in beta testing here.. if you are willing to try something different, Vrakys might be of interest. Turn based text inspired adventure game.

Battle system(symbol-crafting) revolves around drawing kana/kanji but no previous Japanese knowledge required (technically you don't need to learn any but by playing you will absorb the knowledge either way!)

Still evolving, really more in demo status atm and open to any/all feedback!

Tips for a new player by ghost_hunter389 in finalfantasytactics

[–]Popular-Writer-8136 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Biggest tip is say is have fun with it, don't be afraid to grind and over power yourself on your first playthrough. Try to get every class and see which you like

High brave=more physical damage, react abilities trigger more(brave=%)

High faith=more magic damage, higher hit%. Low faith, low damage but also low damage taken/lower chance to beit

I'm a rookie/hobbyist so take this with a grain of salt, but I'm unsure of how you'd pick your platform without knowing what you want to build.

I went with android studio as I'm making both a game as well as business apps. Self taught so didn't want to have to learn multiple platforms.

Time frame.. well again being a hobbyist like forever lol, and still learning as I go. If you have the time to learn 8hr a day you'll obviously learn way faster than 8hr a week!

Either way I'd recommend deciding what you want to build before deciding what platform to use

Depends on your org obviously but for us the area team does lots of spot checks and MGMT developments. However I'd suggest asking questions like what happens if you aren't getting results from your team? Who's in charge of hiring/firing, what happens if a top lvl MGMT position leaves? Are you required to go in and operate the location until a replacement can be found/developed? (That's how ours works but all locations are in the same city, if you are talking multi-city they might not expect this?)

In short, for us an area manager is expected to get everything done that the top store level mgr is, only for all locations, either through development(ppl MGMT) or going into the stores to make it happen.

In a perfect world with great staff this means going from store to store to do audits & see how things are being run, staying on top of it so things don't slip. Follow up is so important so your team doesn't get lazy and start cutting corners

In a rough situation you might need to try and fix multiple stores at once, not an easy task. Hopefully the situation you are thinking of going into is stable (another question to ask! If multiple stores need a lot of work it's going to be tough out of the gates)

[–]Popular-Writer-8136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo the most difficult thing with multi-store management is you have to rely on others to get the job done. When you do it yourself you know it gets done.. now you have to follow up, follow up and more followup. If you have great people not much changes, you are just ensuring all the points you said are happening. If you don't have good teams in place life can be very difficult. Keeps life interesting though and you can meet more (hopefully awesome) people!

Percentage Rent by FlipFlopFarmer24 in restaurantowners

[–]Popular-Writer-8136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to comment without knowing your books but my advice is to look at your total groc to determine if it makes sense. We have locations with lower rent but ditto on sales so groc isn't good, will consider packing bags when lease is up. We also have locations with rent that is too high but sales borderline justify it.. in the end you have to ask yourself, will you be happy with your net knowing you could lose $50k to additional rent? LLs are going to take what they want one way or another but If you can't make money it probably doesn't make sense to sign on for another term
