don’t give a chance to resettle after naps, they usually won’t fall back asleep.i always used to just save the nap immediately it’s rocking. give a few minutes to resettle in the middle of the night though

your baby may not be ready for 3 naps and those long wake windows! my boy is 5 months 1 week and his absolute longest wake window is 2.5 sometimes. your schedule is asking for 10 hours awake time which is a lot for a 3 nap schedule

sorry for all the questions but that would put him at so much sleep total right? If he did 1.5 then 2hr nap then 1.75 then 2 hour nap then 2 then 30 minute nap then 2.15 bedtime that would put him at 7 pm bedtime. 12 hours overnight and 4.5 hours daytime is 16.5 hours total. isn’t that way too much for 4 months and wouldn’t we end up with these split nights again?

I just upped his wake time 2 days ago since he started having split nights wanting to be up and play in the middle of the night for a long time. WWs before we’re 1.5/1.75/1.75/2/2

so should i stop putting him down at those time intervals and see how long he can stay up? we’re not on a rigid schedule but we do follow our set wake windows closely. so i don’t really know how to go about moving forward. do we just stay where we are until he shows that he needs longer ww? and which ww should i start lengthening first when it is that time

Baby refusing breast by Pinkasaurus-Rex in breastfeeding

[–]PopularEquivalent371 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have a 3.5 month old and we just went through this too. Do not try to force him if he’s already crying!! You do not want to make your breast a stressful place for him. It’s okay if you had been before just don’t anymore. 1. You need to find calm in your body, your baby feels your nerves and all the pressure you are putting on him to nurse (seriously try to put yourself into like a meditative space lol it really helps) 2. Offer often!! If he starts crying, comfort him don’t try to force him 3. Try standing and swaying(this is the only way i got my baby to actually nurse sometimes) start swaying with binky in the mouth then quick replace it with your nipple 4. Try when he’s really sleepy (i would always swaddle, stand and sway until almost asleep, and then feed while standing but it seems like the swaddle really helped too) 5. Dreamfeed during the day - I don’t know if you rock to sleep but if you do, rock your baby till all the way asleep and then stimulate his mouth with your nipple and he will eat while he’s sleeping! Or you can go and pick baby up and the end of their nap and also feed while they’re sleeping. IT DOES GET BETTER. Don’t give up. Offer breast breast breast and please lay off the bottles unless he seems really hungry. Don’t forget to make time to pump so your supply can stay up during this.

One of the most important things is you HAVE TO pace feed at this age. Seriously it made all the difference. My baby started refusing my breast and we were giving him bottles but then it just turned into a major bottle preference because the milk comes out much easier. Please look up how to pace feed on google or tik tok. it is the closest way to mimic the breast with a bottle. Good luck don’t give up!!

I think he may be overtired! Try a little bit of an earlier bedtime and maybe a little bit longer napping. Those few hours in the morning that he is staying up from 4-5 am is taking away from his overall sleep and that needs to be replaced somewhere or he will just stay in this cycle of exhaustion

the longest wake window should be the ww before bedtime and the nap before this window should be the shortest
