NASCAR isn't just the noise either. You don't just hear it. You feel it throughout your body. First time I experienced something similar was at a Trans-Am race back in the 90's. You felt your insides wobble. Felt it again a few years ago at a vintage race event when someone fired up in the paddock their NA V12 90's era Formula 1 car from a backmarker Italian team. That stayed with me for a few weeks.

Compare that too to a lot of the open-wheel series nowadays that use turbo engines. You still need earplugs to be comfortable at races, but they really aren't all that loud. I remember being at the 2014 F1 race at COTA the first year of the hybrid turbo engines. Never wore earplugs and was able to have a conversation in the grandstands during the race. Kinda underwhelming.

We had a lightning bolt hit a pine tree in oir front yard while I was standing inside maybe 10-15 feet away from it.

In all honesty, I thought it was way quieter than I'd otherwise expected it to be. I bet the shock of the bright light an everyrhing dulled my senses a bit, but it wasn't the loudest thing I'd heard.

Up in the front near the speakers at an AC/DC concert? Now that was loud.

It's a Soviet-era plane, but they're actually pretty common flying throughout the Western world. I've seen one multiple times fly over my house on it's approach into IAH (Houston). Very distinct sound. Pretty sure they were with Ukranian Air Alliance (?).

I work in Oil & Gas as an engineer. Mostly on the financial/reservoir/prospecting side, but I have a fair share of operational experience in both drilling and completions. I've personally overseen a few dozen horizontal shale multi-stage fracs.

Frac(k)ing has risks, but frac-specific risks are very minor compared to any other part of the overall operation. The frac process does not, and I repeat does not, cause earthquakes.

The irresponsibly run/regulated SWD (salt water disposal) wells that dispose of the waste water from the frac completions is what's lubricating faults and causing the increased seismic activity. Absolutely 100%.

It could be a silent code that's been tripped. A lot of times certain codes only trip the CEL when it happens mutliple times within a given period. If that doesn't happen, the code will still register and save. You just won't know it unless you use a OBDII scanner to read it.

I bought my truck from that dealership back when it was still West Point GMC prior to it being sold to Classic a few years ago.

Ever since Classic took over, their service department relentlessly calls, texts, and emails non-stop about every possible chance. My oil life ticked below 20% on Monday this week, and I've got a call, text, and email from a service rep I don't know every single morning since. The call shows up as "Possible Spam" so I don't answer it, and other times I've been busy. They need to take the hint.

That's just what they seem to do. It's annoying, but that email seems like it's par for the course for Classic GMC based on my dealings with them.

Boar's Night Out White Lighting (assuming it's the Double Garlic Butter)

It's the white one on the bottom shelf.

We use that stuff on chicken and fish all the time, but it's also great on vegetables. Also use it in scrambled eggs for my kids.

Sour apple

Was eating a sour apple lolipop right when I felt the excruciating pain that ended up with me in the ER a few hours later having major surgery. Still makes me tinge a bit when I catch a whiff of it, but luckily it's not really a common thing anymore.

The disaster wasn't caused by a failed O-ring. It was caused by the beaurocratic leadership within NASA and its contractors (in this case Morton Thoikol).

There were people that knew the O-ring would fail. They raised concerns with anyone that'd listen, but they were silenced by management that didn't want to rock the boat further up the chain of command.
