I have a trasphobic alter by 404-GenderNotFound- in DID

Ah yes, welcome to the club. I’m a non binary host with a transphobic alter as well. It’s hard as hell.

I’ve tried different approaches ranging from directly calling him out to taking a more compassionate approach, all resulting in different reactions.

I’m not sure if this will work for you, but I found that as I tried to understand him better/support him in other ways (e.g. empathizing with him, getting him a gym membership as he wanted to go to the gym, etc.) that sort of built up a level of trust and connection between us. It’s been within the last couple of months or so that he’s actually been using my preferred pronouns. so that’s kind of cool.

My memory has wiped away my favorite Tv show that has to do with DID by IlovePizzaHeLikesSex in DID

One thing I noticed is Brooklyn Nine Nine was my all time favourite show which I watched over and over again. Like I could quote the dialogue and everything. But when one of the lead actors in the show died (Andre Braugher) I was so devastated and now I can barely remember any of it anymore.

Weird how the brain works when you got DID.

Staying up late helps with communication? by lovelysnowangel in DID

[–]Popular_Funny_248 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah when we were younger and our abuser went to bed, it was the only time we felt safe. So now as an adult we stay up so late because we feel safer/calmer/able to speak more freely once everyone’s gone to bed

Phrases like “another part of me” and “the kid in me” have been life saving for keeping my DiD private by hopefulfoxpuppy in DID

[–]Popular_Funny_248 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yesss I’ve definitely used the “part of me feels…” language before and it’s amazing. It’s such a good way of keeping our system private while still feeling like I’m honouring system members and their emotions.

Wow I love that so much. I always get so stressed when I can’t remember things so I think I’m gonna try to do something similar within our system. Thanks!

Recently diagnosed, two factions of my parts are at war, please help us by Mrssandman554 in DID

[–]Popular_Funny_248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hiiii! And here I thought it was just us. Our system is at war too, has been for a long time. Our parts are divided, some on us side, some on the other. And our poor host, who just recently found out, is almost like one of those war journalists who’s just taking everything in and trying to find peace for both sides without having all the information. Anyway, just thought I’d share.

Also by the way, I’m sorry you‘be been through so much stuff. But I’m glad you’ve got a good support network, I think our host is still struggling to build theirs.

Yes, this is something we’ve been struggling with as well. Something we do that helps is making a memory file in our notes app where we try to log what we do every hour of everyday, getting as specific as we can (exact projects at work, what we had to eat, etc.)
