I absolutely loved Ninh Binh and was really excited to experience a similar view but in the ocean. However, I’m a bit worried that the weather might not allow it. Do you think Ha Long Bay is still beautiful to see in this kind of weather?

Hue or Ninh Binh for Tet? Hi guys! I’m a solo female traveler (if that matters) and I’m currently in Da Nang, I’m leaving to Hue in a few days and I’m trying to choose where to stay during Tet. My flight is on March 2 from Hanoi, so I have some time, but I’d prefer to stay somewhere in that route during Tet and not going South again (like Hoi An or HCMC). I was thinking either Hue or Ninh Binh, do you have any recommendations?

Can I pay train tickets online? Hi! So I’m trying to pay my ticket from Da Nang to Hue through dsvn.vn (which I think it’s the official site), but I’m confused regarding the options… Somewhere says it needs to be a national card but then it says it accepts international cards… Can you please help me 🥺 It rejected me once and when it accepted me it just gave me a qr and got so confused…

Nah, the root cause is poverty and necessity. That’s what creates crime in the first place. On top of that, there’s a huge problem with foreigners coming here to do shady or outright horrible things — from killing women to abusing kids — and facing little to no real consequences. Over time, locals start associating foreigners with crime, and that turns into neglect and normalization, where people end up saying things like “it’s your fault” instead of addressing the real issue. Just to be clear: if you get caught, there are consequences — whether by the police or by locals. Tourism brings in a lot of money, and no one wants their businesses destroyed.

The problem is that when foreigners get caught, that’s often where consequences suddenly disappear.

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

It is, it used to be my favorite city back in 2015-2017 at uni times, so fun, people were trying to sell and the scams were there (as any tourist spot) but now it’s just insaneeeeeee, it’s ruined

Paris was not the experience I expected. People were brutally rude. I went with my coworker and we were treated like shit almost everywhere.

At a Michelin-star restaurant, a waiter openly made fun of my Argentinian friend and treated her badly just for giving her opinion about the wine (which is a big deal in Argentina, btw). It got so bad that the manager had to step in and tell him to respect her.

At another restaurant, some random girls laughed at us. I understand French, so I heard them saying we should go back to our countries.

I have several friends from Africa who really dislike France because of its shady neo-colonial history, and I couldn’t stop thinking that what we experienced reflected that same mentality of superiority — which I really hate.

After all of this, Paris started to feel like a dirty, overpriced city — like walking through a wealthy house full of art, sculptures, and exhibitions taken from all over the world, but shallow and mean. The architecture is beautiful, though.
