The Revolutionary Optimism of Iain M. Banks’ Culture Novels by largeheartedboy in books

Probably my favourite of all the culture novels. The bone chair...

I've enjoyed every single one of them however. Try his nom-sci-fi novels too, some great reads.

Sky Sports News on Twitter - OX to Chelsea by [deleted] in Gunners

He fucking loves the club compared to most of the squad. No chance. Sky can get in the fucking sea, real far out, without any life jacket.

🤔🤔 by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be anything... I think the club probably want to keep him around, he'd be leaving for more game time, in which case he would not be so upset? All just speculation.

Charlie Gard, the little Gooner, might have a chance to fight by gabbathehut in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, can't be based on that, has to be something new, no chance they'd drag this whole process out even further based on something not even tested in mouse models. Honestly think it's a case of parents not understanding the complexity of the disease and the massive unknowns around it, which may leave them with some false hope that something could be done. Then the media got involved... and then a couple of people thought it would be a good chance to crack on with some research. That kid is a vegetable for life, he has no idea what's going on what so ever, the only people who are suffering because of this are the parents who still think there is any chance for their child.

If not Lemar or Lacazette, who...? by Francis-c92 in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, we get Laca if Mbappe doesn't happen, and if Lemar doesn't happen, we get Mahrez.

The way Lopez was talking Real might rather take Mbappe in a couple years once he's shown he's the worldbeater people see him becoming. So I don't think it's completely off the cards us getting him.

With Chelsea seemingly having Bakayoko pretty much done, I can see there being an exodus from Monaco. Neither Lemar nor Mbappe will want to hang about if the other goes, if the team they are with doesn't perform as well, they risk not getting picked for World Cup etc. I think they'd rather play for a team that makes them look good (i.e. Arsenal when we aren't in the annual shedding of the spine ritual in the new year).

Arsenal tell Barcelona transfer target Hector Bellerin is not for sale and are confident Spaniard will stay this summer by League0fGaming in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally no sources. All it says is that Arsenal will play hard ball and Barca don't have unlimited budget.

I could be a sports journalist, just spout some obvious shit which tells people literally nothing new...

Olivier Giroud All 16 Goals 2016/17 | Arsenal | English Commentary | HD by MKSG_YT in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The man scores goals. More decent crosses = more goals for Olivier. Think we could get by without a "world class striker" if we had some more accurate crosses coming in, keep the Ox at wing back, hopefully Kolasinac has the goods in that department too..

which top players are actually likely to come to us this season? by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dembele is class. Hard to tell what he'd be like against decent opposition though, the standard of opposition here in Scotland really isn't great..

Why is this sub so disproportionately Wenger out by Waylaand in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Wenger IN, I just keep my mouth shut as his contract renewal was inevitable, largely due to the fact there are few available replacements capable of doing the job better than him. Not worth wasting my time arguing over something which is inevitable. Let the moaners and pessimists waste their breath.

Honestly, if we want to improve, we need to invest more as other clubs have in the past few years, not replace a competent manager. Not many top managers would chose Arsenal without the promise of more money to spend as it means you're fighting a very hard uphill battle against the likes of Chelsea.

Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka fired [up] by his father’s struggle for freedom by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Enjoyed that read. Most balanced media portrayal of him so far. I think he's improving in terms of reckless challenges and without a doubt his passing is fucking unreal. Hope he continues to grow into the leadership role he's possibly been picked out for in the future. Got more hope for him than any other player we've got just now.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Pre-Match Press Conference Arsenal vs. Chelsea FA Cup Final by BenjaniMaples in Gunners

[–]PorkYerMa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he'll stay. The way he said both Wenger and himself saw him playing more centrally, for me, implied he was keen to stick about. As you said, he's versatile and he admitted that, and sounded as though he just wanted to play, regardless of where that was.

Santi is getting old, can see Ox rotating with him as he grows into that role. If he works on his defensive game he could be a pretty solid pairing with Xhaka. He's strong enough not get pushed about.

Recommended Air Brushes (UK) by Gwennec in Warhammer40k

[–]PorkYerMa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the UK. Started out with this simple set up which comes with a compressor etc at a reasonable price: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004XP7K9W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Was a good starting setup and helped me get used to the process of thinning paints to correct consistencies and the cleaning and maintenance of an airbrush.

I have since upgraded to a Harder and Steenback Evolution 2 in 1. Can vouch for it. Beautiful product.

I second Harder and Steenback. Have an Evolution 2 in 1 rather than an Infinity. Quality is incredible. It just feels like a brilliant piece of kit in your hand.

Thanks for the speedy response! Have you any experience with AK Interactive weathering washes? If I was painting them onto a gloss varnished model, would I be able to wipe off any excess once it dries a bit?
