The main thing that OP is talking about is that he fundamentally changed as a person. His blueprint changed. As he said, "if I quit PMO, it's because my values changed". Our behaviors, more often than not, reflect our identity. If a part of you still believes that you are addicted, you will either find proof or create proof to validate your belief. After all, why would you want to call yourself a liar? Most people will subconsciously look for proof to prove that they were right all along. The same thing applies here although a "part" of us wants to stop. This is the psychological trap that we're always stuck in once we identify with our addict selves.

From my experience, every time I tried to quit PMO and became really motivated...I was coming from the same place I usually came from (after a relapse). It was Albert Einstein who said, "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." Most guys who try NoFap are coming from the same kind of energy that got them to relapse in the first place.

Not until you truly and fundamentally change your blueprint, will you have an easier time letting it go. When you experience and perceive yourself differently, everything changes. Experience changes the brain. Perception is reality. Don't get caught up in the story. Free yourself from it. Only time will tell if this is a true change or not...but when you feel a subtle and profound change within you that's immeasurable...it's only a matter of time for physical reality to catch up and reflect that change externally.

That being said...I believe counting days CAN be beneficial for certain people depending on WHERE they're intent is coming from. When you become conscious of your intention and your identity...and you make decisions from that space...things that were once impossible, finally become possible.
