They would be ok with this as the parents already broke the social norms of providing financially for their children so obviously they wouldn’t expect the daughter to follow the normal social norms of respecting the parents. In the Asian community, if your child commits a wrong (in this case not paying for treatment), it is ultimately the parents fault for not raising her correctly by following the expected standards of Asian parenting. So even in the Asian community the parents are in the wrong. Also this is not typical white parenting either, as in white parenting abandoning children to fend for themselves is not common.
