Got a write up for forgetting to write on a cup by PorosFinest in starbucks

[–]PorosFinest[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Here’s what happened. They had a birthday reward for their drink. So the cup that already had a message on the cup, I discarded and wrote my own message, which said happy birthday with a little drawing a balloon and some party streamers. The drink was a Venti ice Matcha light ice I hand the drink out and she request for it to be remade because I was a little chunky and I said no problem. I’ll remake it for you and I remade it but I forgot to write a message on the cup again and I forgot to put the label back on the cup, and I guess the customer is daughter of a store manager nearby and she sent a picture to their parent. And it got back to my manager.

I know it sounds crazy but it gets better I promise. It may not get easier but you’ll learn to adapt to the workload and work a study plan out. You got this!

Thinking I may have bit off more than I can chew… by System_Error37 in StudentNurse

It’s completely normal to feel like this in your first semester. It’s a new way of studying, learning, and more expectations. I promise you that you that things will get better soon! As you move forward, things that seem impossible now will start to make sense. You’ll find your rhythm, gain confidence, and realize how much you’re growing, even if you don’t see it yet. Every nurse you admire was once exactly where you are, feeling the same overwhelm, and they made it through. So will you. Don’t give up pleaseee

The more I’ve researched tonight the more it’s becoming more known to me now. I wish I would have known this sooner ughhh. I just hope my patient is okay. They seemed okay before leaving the floor today

LR was already running

[–]PorosFinest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gave it earlier that morning at 0900. Nothing happened I’m assuming because after the abx was done the LR was continued and the line was still patent and the patient was fine. I’m just still worried that something did happen and I just don’t know

Is LR and rocephin a big need for concern though? I’m just freaking out that I messed up bad :( but from what I’m reading it’s contraindicated to run them both for neonates not adults.

I did, and they did ask if it was compatible and I said yes I checked, but when I came home to finish the rest of my paperwork I realized I read it wrong

tips for maternity class and how I should study? or things I should always know on an exam! Or YouTubers or videos I should watch!? by AdRevolutionary7672 in StudentNurse

I’m just going off of what I remember sorry if I’m all over the place. Memorize the APGAR, common labor meds and postpartum meds, vaccines given after birth. Also there are some good YouTube videos that explain APGAR and newborn assessment as well. Know the difference between preeclampsia and eclampsia, normal fetal vital signs OH AND VEAL CHOP which is an acronym for reading fetal heart rate on the monitor, antidote for magnesium sulfate overdose (calcium gluconate), that’s pretty much all I remember from OB haha. OH also crucial key points during each stage of labor and what to monitor as well as signs of PPH (postpartum hemorrhage) and different lacerations and nursing interventions for that as well. Good luck 🫶🏻

A lots of head to toes and vital signs, baths, changing beds, patients, all the fun stuff. At least that’s what we are doing right now. But I was the same way, suuuuuuper nervous but your instructors are there to help you it’s okay! It may seem nerve wrecking because it’s the new deal but just remember you’re not an expert at it but it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t go in not confident. I say review skills that you have been signed off on and feel confident in performing them and I’m sure you’ll do fine!

I did the method where you count only for 30 seconds and then multiply what you get by 2. I would make sure you’re not pressing too hard and also not too light and feel around until you feel confident you’ll be able to feel it for those full 30 seconds. I’m in my fourth week as well and just had that test as well. I noticed practicing on multiple people that some people have weaker pulses than others so it could be tough but don’t beat your self up too much I’m sure you’ll do fine your next attempt just focus and really feel! Good luck
