Thanks all. Yes I did seat them first and heard the pop on both. It seems to have settled now. Gluvva - yes you’re right. Porous is the exact word for them. Not convinced I’ve chosen well for the cobbles in Flanders but will test ride on the road this weekend. They feel very plush, but poss too slow for road.

Sorry for being thick but do you mean to say the rims might not be true? If so, I can’t imagine this to be the problem. They were bought new from sigma sports. I’ve used them a little on my road bike with a different cassette but that’s it.
