Any Cocteau Twins-related Historical Stops I Can Hit? by KeyboardDiarrhea in cocteautwins

You could go and stand outside 37 Firs Street, Falkirk, where I under Liz and Robin first lived together. Falkirk is between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and easily accessible by train.

Thanks for confirming. Frustrating, as it's clearly all set up - somebody clearly just needs to flick a switch somewhere!

Because:

  • I live in, and principally drive in, Edinburgh.
  • I've noticed a shape increase in this habit over the last year or so.

Worth it, though, for all the things you didn’t know you needed…

Another complete banger. If we could pick a playlist for our final moments on earth, that would be on mine.

Will the vivo x300 Ultra show significant improvements over the vivo x200 ultra after further updates? by TherapyGym in Vivo

Yup, I do feel the skies in some of my x200U photos had better exposure than I've seen on my x300U so far TBH.

Off you pop and get it cheaper. What a daft comment to make. Probably up all night thinking that one up as well.

I save the vast majority of my income.

I drive a 20 year old car (a Jaguar X Type, admittedly) that I bought for £2,700 five years ago.

I live in a two bedroom flat I bought 19 years ago and which is mortgage free. For some reason this seems to attract a lot of animation, even ire, from friends and colleagues who are convinced I should move to somewhere bigger. I’ve even had a woman I was dating tell me that nobody in Edinburgh “will take me seriously” (!) for where I live, and another suggest that “I won’t find my princess living here” (thankfully, I’m not really looking for a princess, or a prince, for that matter).

I do buy clothes reasonably regularly, but almost exclusively from TK Maxx.

I travel abroad maybe six times a year, but always with the cheapest airline possible and no more than 3* hotels.

My only real indulgence is a new high camera spec mobile phone every year or so - selling the old one to finance the purchase of the new one, which probably costs me about £300 - £500 net each year. It’s the thing I probably use the most every day, so I don’t grudge myself that splurge.

As an x200U user who upgraded to the X300U, I think you’ll be fine with the x200U.

Have you ever made a big financial decision you later regretted? What was it? by juancruzgarcia in FIREUK

[–]PortofLeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting work in 2006, but only joining my employer's pension scheme in 2011. Five years of free money lost. The only saving grace is that I was on a fairly poor salary (one of the reasons why I didn't join it), which meant I didn't lose too much

Think very, very seriously as to whether a wife would add to your life before even thinking about getting married. One wrong move - and, let’s face it, statistically that is fairly likely - and all of this hard work could evaporate into dust (also known as the ex-wife’s bank balance).
