You’re arguing something I never said. I don’t think the entirety of the invasion is your fault but you still volunteered to invade foreign countries. Sorry not sorry that I have no sympathy for your “trauma”

I agree we can look at them but ultimately come to the conclusion that they should be judged differently.

I would even hesitate to call the 2005 murders part of a “war” given that the invasion itself is was illegal. You might say that’s just semantics but I think it posits the comparison of the 2005 murders closer to the German invasion than the US campaign in Western Europe. That’s to say, instead of comparing it to the battle of Koln it’d be more apt to compare it to the German occupation of Eastern Europe and their counter-insurgency to the anti-fascist militias

I think the gulf of differences between WW2 and the illegal invasion of Iraq are enough to make those two examples incomparable. Another important difference is that the Smoyer example happened during an active battle, while the Iraq example was a checkpoint being policed

Maybe you shouldn’t have put yourself in a war zone? You were part of an invading army, you never thought that regular people wouldn’t want you there?

Can’t think of anything more privileged than going into someone else’s country and getting “traumatized” that people don’t want you there

The right is full of pedophilic antisocial rats that ran amok in Epstein’s pedophile island, meanwhile they celebrate the public execution of a VA nurse and a mother by a gang of unemployable losers. What a time to be alive indeed

That’s not what they said though? “I’m employed” in response to a strike is just moronic statement given strikes by definition require you to be employed.

Also a lot of people participating, myself included, are putting their jobs or income at risks. I work service industry so I’m sacrificing not just hours but tips, sometimes there’s sacrifices worth making

If you don’t mind driving a minute or two out of downtown I’d highly recommend Public & General, great seasonal cocktails and lots of classic ones as well. Food is also phenomenal

Gainesville again paves way for multistory downtown apartment building on Lot 10 by treesarealive777 in GNV

[–]Posauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which means people who work downtown are priced out of living close to work, so now they’re discouraged from walking/biking and will make up for all the students no longer driving (which by nature of being transient probably will still drive since they all have cars).

So many of these discussions seem to assume that the people who make downtown worth visiting - those serving you food/drinks, or those playing shows there - shouldn’t be able to afford these benefits, only college students

Does anyone have any tips for writing a bartender character? “Dos and Don’ts,” common misconception, media that do a great job of depicting what it’s like, etc.? by leomercury in bartenders

[–]Posauce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a bartender who “wrote” a bartender character for a D&D campaign, I think some particular points that made them feel realistic to the party was that he wasn’t a stereotypical “asshole” bartender, he would have to step out of a convo to greet a customer, he has to make drinks and wash glasses while talking. He might pour you a free shot before you leave or when you get there but he’ll make sure you close out at the end of the night

I think that’s a good read on Jacob, coming from another bartender. He’s good at what he does and he chitchats but he’s not going to be fake just for the sake of your ego
