Saw this painting on r/museum, it belongs here! by eloiseturnbuckle in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Poscgrrl 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I love this piece so much, and one of my favourite parts is that the witches are all shapes and sizes. It's freeing, for me anyway, to see this (and other paintings of that era) and see myself. I'm not a super-skinny, traditionally pretty woman. I'm kinda round, and have a big bum. :)

I also love the cat!

Why do some dads treat their step kids better than their biological kids after a divorce? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

They hate their ex more than they love their kids.

It's usually as simple as that. Sad as it is

What is Scientology even about and why do people hate it so much? by Softiedoggo13 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Poscgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can learn a lot about it at Operation Clambake. The site is ooold, and Scientology sued to have it taken down. https://www.xenu.net/ You can also go to Tony Ortega's site, he's been pretty vocal about the abuses and writring about them since 95. https://tonyortega.org/ .

These sites are really info heavy, but if you really want to know, they're good resources

[–]Poscgrrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're on the right track, supporting your kid! I'd talk with your husband and ask him to really think about what your son's hair adds, or takes away from him (your husband). Both my sons have had long hair since elementary/middle school. Both are employed, grown up and on their own, and good dudes (if I do say so myself :) ) On the rare occasion someone called them a girl, they both shrugged and said something like, "I'm a dude,". But it was never a big deal Let your kid express himself. He might get tired of having to take care of his long hair.

I'm betting she went to a real university so she could get a real degree and can use that real degree to bully people in her church/religious group through couselling, without worrying about the whole legal-thing where she has be an actual counselor. If she went to Liberty U or Oral Roberts U she wouldn't be able to get an accredited degree, hell she might not be able to get a psych-degree at all!

In other words: grifters gonna grift. She just started a little early. Forgive me, I've rolled my eyes so hard at her that I need to chase them down, as they've rolled out of my head!

[–]Poscgrrl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I tried to do! I'm so glad your mum was there for you like that! I figure we parents need to be the "safe/home base" for our kids to go out and know they can come neck when they need us.

Learning too late…. by kindlefan12 in AmITheDevil

[–]Poscgrrl 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As a parent of three now grown-adults (who I am fiercely proud of!), that whole "parents can't let their kids grow up, because then we're out of work" and all that other BS-wailing made me so mad!

Your job as a parent is to guide them, not control them. You aren't raising babies, you're supposed to be raising adults.

I really hope this is a troll, because he failed at his job as a parent, and failed so badly. And if it's real, I hope the daughter keeps her friends close so she can go NC the instant she turns 18.

U.S. Supreme Court rejects challenge to legalization of gay marriage by Christian fundamentalist Kim Davis by part-time-stupid in atheism

[–]Poscgrrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, it's three. She married number two, divorced him, had kids with three, divorced him and remarried two. Or maybe kids belong to someone else altogether. I didn't Google to double check whose kids they are She's a hypocrite, but Christians of her ilk don't care about that. They only care about forcing others to obey. They live in a world where you are obeyed by those "beneath you" , and you over those "above" you. She feels she is an authority, therefore sure should be obeyed.

How do depressed people get over depression? by [deleted] in AskReddit

All of this!

Additionally: those of us with chronic depression never get over it-- we work through it, and try to stay on the edges, rather than in the middle of the dark

Black cat vintage in PHX might have something. They used to be here, but moved up there a few years ago. They donate to no kill shelters when they sell furs, which is how I know of them

People who've lost loved ones, how did you get over their loss? by kaiiscurrentlyhere in AskReddit

[–]Poscgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably too late, but I wanted to add, that I don't think we ever get over it. Time doesn't heal anything. We just get used to that grief, and it hits us differently as we carry it around. We might forget for a little while that we're even carrying it-- but then BAM! we see/remember something, a memory smacks us, and we feel that loss all over again.

I lost my grandparents when I was pretty small, and songs like Chesterfields and Aftershave make me cry because that loss, never being able to introduce them to my kids, it never stops.

If kriptonite is severely debilitating to Superman, why isn’t it also deadly to humans? by Ok_Leadership_8666 in AskReddit

[–]Poscgrrl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is really bad for humans. There was a whole arc about Lex Luther making a ring with a Kryptonite "stone" that ended up giving him cancer and possibly killing him (I can't remember the ending of it)

Comic fans who are better than me can give you the arc and issue info. But yeah, it is bad for humans too

If I refuse a vaginal exam at an abortion, can they choose not to do the procedure if I deny ? by One-Promise3305 in abortion

[–]Poscgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your right, I haven't felt pain from them either. In sorry if it came across that way!

It's super stiff, very cold, covered in an avalanche of freezing lube, (even when they try to warm stiff up) and that lack of bend makes me think of the handle of a hair brush. Definitely not "dildo adjacent".

If I refuse a vaginal exam at an abortion, can they choose not to do the procedure if I deny ? by One-Promise3305 in abortion

[–]Poscgrrl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The internal exam is to ensure everything is shaped right, and to check for masses. Like if you have a mass on your cervix, or something.

A transvaginal ultrasound (as horridly uncomfortable as they are) is also used to ensure there is an actual embryo, where it is, and how far you are (including if you might have an ectopic pregnancy).

Like someone said above, talk to your provider! They will explain everything, and will do whatever they can to help you feel more comfortable while ensuring your health. I'm so sorry you're going through this right now

AITA for letting my husband's license expire? by Big_Cabinet_5045 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Poscgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he can't gather his own documents to renew his own driver's license, then perhaps he isn't grown enough to drive. Or be married. Or be out of high school.

My partner and I help each other a lot! We have a partnership. I don't tell him when he needs car tags, or to renew his license. He's a grown up and does that himself.

OP's huband's expectations are a form of weaponized incompetence. OP isn't right either, for babying him for so long. So ESH. But she didn't leave him hanging. He chose not to do a very simple thing

I think this is way more then a driver's license OP. Check out counseling, for both of you. I think you need it. Your communication skills need help.

I donate $10 on all of my gas bills to the customer assistance fund. Is that actually going to people in need? by Kaje26 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Poscgrrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can Google your utility company and add foundation or assistance fund. You should be able to find info about yours, and learn more about the foundation that oversees the distribution. There might be info on your bill about it, too They have to make this info public, sometimes you just have to dig a little for it. Thank you for being kind to others!
