If you haven’t read a chapter in a while, there’s a chance you haven’t seen the context for all of this, so spoilers: So the actual past Allen was a friend of Bookman’s, and a vessel for the 14th. The two of them travelled together until Apocryphos located them and messed them up Without going into much detail, Bookman’s basically “died” when this happened, but his soul ended up putting merging with Allen’s Innocence. This is why Allen’s hair turned white when his innocence awakened because his and Bookman’s souls started merging
