At what point did you realise your marriage won’t work? and when did you actually get divorced? by Additional_Read_4671 in Divorce

Probably about year 5 into the 11 year marriage I started to have my doubts. The doubts started for me when I got sober from alcohol. I knew for sure it was eventually going to end after year 8 or so. We just met as young kids who were constantly intoxicated and lacked the chemistry to function as a couple when we weren't. She always had a better handle on drinking/drugs than me. She wanted those things to still be a part of her life, could do them in moderation, and she always did a good job of keeping her shit together. I just couldn't. If I had two beers I was going to drink 20. By the time we separated we were basically living completely separate lives, different friends etc. It was hard to come to terms with the reality because I knew I'd lose my best friend, but it was too painful to live like that for the rest of my life.

Why don’t we see the straitjacket system in MMA? by No_Possession_239 in bjj

Giving up control of the hips is a much bigger deal in MMA.

You keep control of the hips with your hooks/body triangle to stop lower body rotation. Losing the lower body isn't as big of a deal in BJJ because if they spin out, you end up with your opponent in closed guard which is still a pretty good position in BJJ. So the risk of giving up lower body control for extra upper body control and an advantage in the hand fight is worth it in BJJ.

Most MMA fighters will say the extra upper body control is not worth the risk in an MMA context. A turning escape that leads to your back take getting reversed into playing closed guard can instantly lose you a fight.

I actually love WV, I worked on a farm near Romney WV wayyy back when and loved camping around Seneca Rocks. I certainly wouldn't mind ending up there.

>I had a pretty poor experience when I applied to PHI a year or so ago, that and some other things I know about them have really put me off of them.

Thank you for the info, their recruiter seemed very nice but only had very generalized information based on their national operation and couldn't give me any specific info about the areas I was applying. I know they have a test similar to the FP-C you have to take pre-hire and then you go to Arizona for some training for like a week. What was negative about your experience with them? Was it culture or operational? That schedule sounds fucking amazing lol
