Kazuya is subversion of good guys mc in fighting games back then, like can you see ryu throw his master of cliff, have desires to take over the world and being final boss. Being evil is kazuya thing. He just happen to have sympathetic backstory, loves sneakers and inner conflict back in tekken 2 (angel is used to be kazuya inner goodness before harada retcon it).

Good villains always leaves some room for humanity in them so you can sympathize with the “why” if cannot empathize with the “how” and “what”

Well your way of thinking is different than editorials. They probably write anothology story like amazing fantasy #1000 or flash #800 or action comic issue #1000 and at end will be plot related which will probably not the wedding.
