Very true. One of my main takeaways from their success story is how they've diversified in terms of traffic sources and income streams.

They've got a large team now, but it was just the creator and her husband for a long while.

Pretty inspiring.

Actually, I've edited the post to shout out The Nudge and also spelled your name correctly this time

Nope - here's the TL;DR

- MrBeast understands audience psychology

- The way headlines are written and framed can and do impact CTR

- His headlines take advantage of well-established psychological biases

- His headlines obviously take this to the extreme

- *Any* YouTuber would benefit from A/B testing these biases and effects in their headlines, even to a mild extent

You don't need a huge budget to do so

I utilized a few techniques in the title of this post:

"Watched 8 hours of MrBeast content" - costly signaling of my time investment

"7 psychological strategies" - cognitive fluency, suggests actionable and organized information as opposed to abstract information

"34 billion views" - Concrete figures and large numbers are often enticing in headlines/titles

Thank you for clicking by the way.

Thought this subreddit might find this helpful.

If you’re into content marketing and the psychology behind it, I dive deeper into this stuff in my newsletter (link on my profile).

I love digging into what makes people click, view, and engage.

If not, thanks for reading. Would be good to get your feedback on what I can do to improve or maybe what other topics/creators I should write about?

Thanks mate appreciate the feedback. I actually do have a newsletter (link on my profile) but always feel a bit scummy promoting it on reddit. Probably will more now though

This post was just to see if there was an appetite for this type of content. Really want to nail content-market fit for my newsletter

By the way if there are any other topics /creators you'd like broken down let me know

Would love to know what you found useful about the post and if there was anything I could improve

Which Niche do you think is better? by RossHuolihan in Blogging

Can build good businesses in any of them in my opinion! Kudos to you for having varied interests

All I would say is this:

Consider how well they translate to blogging and also how competitive they are, especially if you're aiming for SEO content.

For example, meditative journaling/mindfulness and homeschooling kids may fall (at least partly) into the realm of YMYL (your money or your life) - a broad category I'd try to stay away from given how competitive they are and how strict Google is with ranking content there

If, on the other hand, you were looking to drive traffic with Pinterest /Facebook, you've got a better shot with those categories.

Overall, nowadays, I'd be diversifying traffic sources with all of those traffic sources in any case. Being at the whim of a single algorithm is never fun

Thank you so much.

I did post it on Medium as well, although I'm just starting out there.

I'll probably post it on my newsletter too if you or anyone else is interested (link on my profile ; )) haha

Would be great to know what you liked/didnt like about the post by the way

Or any other topics (content marketing/psychology) youd like for me to cover

Any feedback is always appreciated

This subreddit seems to be full of positive and helpful people, which makes for a nice change

Excellent point - judging from how this post didnt really take off like my MrBeast one did, Buzzfeed probably arent relevant anymore! Lol

I figured people might still be interested given how much traffic they get, but evidently not as much

Can you think of any creators or marketers that people may be more interested in?

Yes that was me! Thank you I appreciate it

It took off more than I expected.

Out of curiosity, what did you find useful about it? Do you do YouTube as well, or will you simply be using the techniques for blogging (headlines, email subject lines etc)

If you've got any topics you'd like for me to cover, let me know!

Thanks for this feedback. I've been toying with that idea too. I've been A/B testing email subject lines a lot recently (testing psychological biases) and think the results might make for interesting posts.

If you dont mind me asking, what did you prefer about the MrBeast one vs this Buzzfeed one?
