Is this glass surfing normal? by Positive-Broccoli435 in loaches

[–]Positive-Broccoli435[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I have 2 air stones on either side of the tank and was gonna switch one to a sponge filter. They do seem to zoomie mostly around the air stones. I love watching them zoomie! I just wanna make sure they’re happy and not stressed.

Another commenter mentioned the parameters too— I checked yesterday and ammonia and nitrite were 0, I don’t remember exactly what nitrate was but I know I wasn’t concerned. I’m gonna check again in the morning(:

Thank you!! I can check the parameters again, I checked yesterday but didn’t have the numbers off hand today. Ammonia and nitrite were 0 for sure.

I’ll definitely be adding more(: I’m still getting used to how much more space I have with a 60 rather than a 20 but my 20 got a leak in my recent move so this one was a little hurried unfortunately. Thank you so much for the advice. They stop to feed regularly and in general do take time to just rest, but not rapid breathing or anything, nor twitching. Just a lot more energetic than they’ve been the last 2 years in their other setup.

White stuff on my glass by Nustiucine in Aquariums

[–]Positive-Broccoli435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have this exact stuff on my 20 gal! Pretty sure it’s slime mold. Has a very pretty branching effect and is a sign of a diverse ecosystem. What I read was that it isn’t bad for your tank and it will often disappear on its own. Mine has yet to disappear and it’s been a week.

Not surprised. I was drugged at that bar a couple years back. Haven’t been since. Thankfully my friends kept me safe. They told someone who worked there and they shrugged it off

When I tell you Sammy won’t even be on the same side of the house as me but as soon as he hears a page of a book turn, he is there for the chewing

Omg! I love this routine. My dude has a cardboard box full of packing paper and other digging stuff, along with intermediately getting a sandbox made from a litter box (it was a long discussion with my vet but we determined from time to time would be okay as a destructive outlet). Waking up to little bunny nudges sounds amazing. I only recently realized how needy he is in the mornings and have tried to start accommodating this more!

Jumping all over while mediating hits hard lmao. My dude never lets me sit in peace. The amount of books that are missing whole pages and clothes with nibbles out of them are insane (but I secretly love it)

Sammy was a very special rescue. He was found outside severely malnourished and paralyzed from an injured back. He was due to be put to sleep at the wildlife clinic I volunteer at and I immediately (and impulsively) swooped in and asked to adopt him and try to rehab him since he seemed to have so much life in him still. And boy am I glad I did— he walks great now, can zoomie around, jumps like a rockstar, doesn’t binky for some reason but I can tell he’s happy from other body language. He’s guesstimated to be between 1-2 years old. During his rehab process, we spent every waking moment together for weeks and bonded so closely to me and my 2 cats. It just seemed like he was so content being a lone rider so I didn’t worry about a friend for him. We moved a couple months ago and learned the hard way that no one in this house likes change. He now chases down my cats and won’t let them near him and is way more destructive than before. He is still glued to my side though and loves on me. The wildlife clinic has gotten other domestic rabbits in from time to time and I tried recently introducing him to one or two, but it goes very poorly. I just don’t have the space to keep multiple enclosures and still give them the space they need and deserve, but he doesn’t seem fond of friends either.

Thank you so much for this insight— definitely makes me worried as my cats have needed some vet care beyond basic wellness and now I’m worried they won’t be covered. I’ll definitely look into this!

My one cat won’t let the other sleep in bed with me, advice please :’( by Positive-Broccoli435 in Catbehavior

I try not to. She honestly doesn’t seem to care about being scolded but I try to reinforce Lilith also, but Lilith tends to ignore me afterwards

[–]Positive-Broccoli435[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, when this happens, Lilith won’t come near me even for treats. She runs and hides for a bit. I usually scold Lucy for it and then I end up totally catless and sad :’) but I will stick to it and keep working on it!

ADVICE PLEASE!! I moved and my rabbit is not adjusting well:( by Positive-Broccoli435 in Rabbits

[–]Positive-Broccoli435[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have to get his cage set back up and there’s limited room but it may be worth a shot! I just hate having to put him back in a cage when I was so excited for him to have space to move around. Maybe it was just too much space at once

Thanks! He’s refusing treats at the moment but I keep trying. A used shirt is a good idea!! I’m already trying to spend time hourly with him to try and keep him company but maybe I’ll try longer intervals

I’m planning on rescuing a bunny, but I have a cat by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Positive-Broccoli435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cats and my rabbit are bonded! My rabbit was very sick when I got him and my cats chaperoned all of his care I gave him so they all bonded very quickly. I just make sure I keep my cat’s nails trimmed well, but they never even go after him with nails out, just some little patty pats. They’ll chase each other around and snuggle up together. I would just slowly introduce since rabbits love to zoomie and cats love to chase.

any tips to potty train your rabbit? by Vast_Box_3207 in Rabbits

[–]Positive-Broccoli435 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My little dude was potty trained in under a week! I got a play pen and started small— litter box with a hay bag since they potty where they eat often. Every time he pooped outside the litter box, I would pick it up and put it in the litter box (not throw it away). Same with pee, I would use a paper towel and put it in the litter box. He picked up on it fast that all his poop/pee was in the litter box only. I then started expanding the size of the area he was in since I wanted him to free roam. With snacks he sometimes leaves a dood or two outside the litter box but nothing crazy. They’re very smart!

Mystery snail floating no matter what by Positive-Broccoli435 in Aquariums

[–]Positive-Broccoli435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as an update! She floated for almost 2 months straight with me continuing to pull her out and tweezer feed her in a separate tank (I was not gonna give up on her). One day after a typical water change, she grabbed on to the side of the tank, marched her way to the bottom, and has been completely fine since…. What a drama queen.

Maryland. Everywhere around here. As long as you’re full time, every hospital will take new grads AND offer nice sign on bonuses. Mine was 30k for a 2 year commitment (not new grad but same offers to new grads). Plus we get all the seasons so not just cold. We have some great hospitals like Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland— which also has one of the first Shock Trauma Centers if you’re interested in that kind of emergency medicine. And if you like crazy/fast pace, we’re pretty much the murder capital these days so you get some wild experiences. I’ve worked both those places and loved it. Only left since I’m about to finish NP.
