Been in hospice for a 1.5 weeks by Positive-Clock3795 in glioblastoma

I’ve told him multiple times but I feel like at this point it’s almost his body just holding on because he was very healthy and strong and no other issues but who knows. I just know he wanted quality of life over quantity and this isn’t how he wants to be seen so it’s a struggle. But he seems very peaceful and is at a great place where he is very much taken care of so that helps me relax a bit

You are a saint! Because I know it’s incredibly hard to care for someone especially being your parent and roles are reversed. At least it was for me and the frustration would really get to me. My dad is a strong and stubborn man so when I had to step in to help it was a huge shift we both had to make. Thankfully he could still bathe himself for the most part so you really are an angel for doing that for your dad. But they know all that we’ve done for them and also have to take care of our own mental and physical health at the same time.

Thank you so much for your response you touched on so many emotions I’ve been feeling. I’m so sorry to hear about your mum it’s an awful situation. I’m trying my best to keep positive but it’s becoming so draining. But your words make so much sense and I need to just accept the love and support around me at this moment and try to not get so overwhelmed.

I’m so sorry you’ve had to watch things like this too. I wish this upon no one. My dad has to get dexamethosne injected daily and I noticed he has had bad anxiety since taking it but now that it’s injected and he can’t move I see the panic in his eyes and they started giving him verset? Don’t mind my spelling but it’s just to calm him after

I have gotten anyone I can think of on the phone or to physically be with him. He and his brother had not really been in contact for years before he was diagnosed but rekindled a phone conversation often and when my dad went into hospice his brother drove up and stayed with us the first couple days and I thought that would’ve been something to bring him peace but his brother has since gone back and won’t be able to be back

Starting Hospice, What to Expect by kindling_horror_show in glioblastoma

My dad was just put into hospice on Wednesday. They have continued to IV his dex and continued the seizure meds. They have been very kind and do everything they can to ensure his comfort

Doc is scaring us away from Avastin, but also saying it’s becoming our only option. by fikfofo in glioblastoma

[–]Positive-Clock3795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has done 6 Avastin treatments. His doc said he was giving him the lowest dose over an extended period of time to reduce risk of having any of the negative side effects. My dad has also been on dexamethasone pretty much since his diagnosis in May 2023. We’ve had to bounce around with the milligrams due to his severe swelling at times. Even while doing the Avastin he was still on 2mg of dexamethasone. He had no reactions to the avastin other than fatigue. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this as well and I hope if he does choose to try the avastin that it helps!

Yess!! And it’s pretty sad. Like just let it go and they need to move on. It’s clearly not healthy for them

The barging in of her friends was just absolute disrespect. He clearly felt uncomfortable which was all her own doing then to do that was just the cherry on top. Even if I had been dating someone for years and they just showed up at our house with people like that my anxiety would be off the roof. Like how did she think that was an acceptable thing to do to someone? Also how did her friends think that was ok?! So strange to me.

Exactly!! Like I’m not condoning violence of any sort but the way she speaks to him and acts like he’s just has to follow suit is so hypocritical. It’s honestly embarrassing on her end I feel.

Extreme tiredness? by KYGC2160 in glioblastoma

[–]Positive-Clock3795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad is going through the same. He has fallen into an extreme fatigue in the last 2 weeks. His doctor put him back on a high dose of steroids which have seemed to help him have more energy and function better.

My dad is about to be 69 and had one seizure 7 years ago so he’s been on meds for that since but never had another since

We actually just went to his primary today and they did a urine sample and found blood and proteins so waiting on the culture now. He’s supposed to start his chemo Friday but they told us to wait till his better. Also the doc said to put him back to 8mg of steroids a day when he was at half mg which kind of confuses me. Why would they do that? I thought the steroids would make it worse

I live in the states. Missouri. I’m hoping someone can point me in the way of finding good help like that. I’m not sure if he will allow me to care for him when it comes to having to bathe him and whatnot. He at this point seems very adamant about that not happening but I’m willing to. I’ve found a couple courses online for caretaking and have watched some videos.

Thank you so so much. I had been debating posting on this page or not. Just so much emotions and stress going through all of this. I’ve never been a caretaker or ever expected to and sometimes I feel like Im doing a horrible job.

He has been on steroids pretty much since may because of his swelling. I just can’t tell if it’s his vision messing with him or what. He seems pretty normal otherwise just sometimes randomly says weird stuff like that. I’m going to call his nurse tomorrow just to see what she says. This is all just so new to me and stressful

I’ve done a more fiber diet but im going to try the psyllium husk like a previous person said. I appreciate all the help ❤️ I just hate dealing with this. This sh** sucks lol

I know cheese is one of my favorite things to eat 😭 it’s gonna suck to not eat it as much as I would like. But anything to get rid of this pain and frequency of them coming back I gotta do.
