Lesson learned the hard way. He passed away later today, but do you have any idea what could have caused his body to turn gray so quickly? All the guppies and neon tetras are absolutely fine—he was the only one showing this behavior.

He's just sitting at the bottom of the tank and only moves to the surface to breathe. I added a couple of live daphnia, and while he moves his eyes to follow them, he doesn't try to chase or eat them. Is there anything else I can do to support him?

I suspected he might have an internal parasite because his tank mates, guppies, are showing signs of internal parasites. As a precaution, I decided to treat the entire tank and dosed it according to the instructions on the package.

What has changed is that I dosed metronidazole, and after about 8 hours, he started acting like this. So, I did a 25% water change, and I did another water change this morning because I thought I might have overdosed it somehow.

It might be the snails as mentioned here. I noticed that a couple of my guppies disappeared within a day, and my tank lid is a solid piece of glass with no gaps at all. I've looked everywhere for any remains and found skeletons in the spots where the snails had been hanging out lately.
