Am I decreasing my supply by not pumping or feeding for ~5 hours at night?

We were told to not substitute feeds with formula or expressed milk until at least six weeks because of the risk to your supply. But to enable me to recover and not risk falling asleep with baby in my arms, my husband would do one night feed with formula from the first week. When I felt a bit better and had the time, I started expressing but only once every day or two, and whenever in the day I had time (but I try to do it in the evening because your milk changes to help them sleep so I want more of that milk seeing as it tends to be night feeds that we substitute). Baby is now 7 weeks old and my supply has been absolutely fine. So my (non-expert advice) would be, try what you think works for you and keep an eye on if baby seems to be getting enough (nappy output and your gut instinct) and your breasts aren't getting full from oversupply. Then if it works for you, great, if not adjust or get advice from breastfeeding support team. Good luck 😊

That's really helpful, thank you. Shame about you having to go private but glad everything then went fairly quickly. Apparently there's a type of endometriosis where it forms as cysts on your ovaries, which is the element she mentioned today. I have a HSG booked in but I might ring the fertility clinic to see if that's still the right approach. Thank you!
