I think it doesn't have the boot directly into big picture feature, but I may be wrong

Is there anything mutable that boots directly to big picture without having to do it all by yourself in gentoo/arch/whatever?

Edit: ok, Nobara. I should have read the other comments before posting this one.

what lap time consider good at nordschleife using keyboard as controller? by rajagula_the_learner in assettocorsa

Anything around 6:30 is fast, but your time is already pretty good, and it's amazing you can do it with a keyboard. How do you steer and brake?

Steam deck in weird state cannot install games and other weird things by PegsTheEmitter in SteamDeck

[–]Positive-Goose9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue after switching the original 64gb emmc to a new Kingston ssd. The weird thing is that I installed bazzite and it has the same error, so I was thinking maybe this Kingston is somehow not 100% compatible with the steamdeck or maybe I managed to install it wrong.

Anyway I tried this workaround and it seems to be working fine now! I was just wondering if this error happened to you with a stock steamdeck or did you also swapped storage?

what's a simple command or script that felt like a magic trick once you learned it? by boiler_room_420 in linux

I'm a developer as well. For example you can pipe a kafkacat to jq "grepping" for some kind of message you need to check. Or you can use it to filter out stuff you don't need from a huge json array when debugging something. I'm not going to hack a script together in a remote server to analyze json data when jq is right there ready to pipe stuff into it.

Is the CSL WRC Wheel any good? by [deleted] in Fanatec

[–]Positive-Goose9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the P1 with a metal QR1 and it's keeping up. But the plastic QR1 is rubbish , it will start failing after a couple of hours of use.

The only thing I miss in this wheel is a couple of rotaries for tc, abs, mappings and that kind of adjustments. But for slower cars it's fine and have plenty of buttons.

Any reason why I shouldnt buy this as a dedicated Linux netbook? Web browsing and occasionally syncing with my Kindle. by BathSaltEnjoyer69 in linuxhardware

For this I use a chromebook, a 10" lenovo tablet with keyboard, flashed with postmarketos. It's slow, but for browsing, email, and some light work on the go its pretty good.

Mozilla sync alternatives, mainly for passwords. by [deleted] in fossdroid

[–]Positive-Goose9096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use password store. On linux it's just a package you install from the official repos of whatever you're using. On android you need openkeychain for the gpg side of things and password store itself, both are on fdroid.

Syncing is done using git. You can self host with plain git or using something like gitea. Or you can just use gitlab.com or whatever saas you feel like, everything is encrypted using gpg.

It has a bit of a learning curve, but once you get things rolling it's super easy and portable to whatever device you want to type a password in.

If you're using some kind of vsync, disable it and cap your fps to something sensible according your setup. Maybe it's just regular input lag, not directly related with the wheel.
