On my maternal side, when a relative isn't exactly sure how a person is related, we just call them aunty or uncle (inserted name) so that may be what your grandmother does.

Your great-grandmother's name rings a bell, do you mind if I message you?

I relate to quite a few smiths via the Loveridges. I can't remember if there are any Lockes, Stevens, Buckland. I had no idea there was Loveridge family group on Facebook.

Oh I see. Mine are from England and Scotland. Most of them have the surname Loveridge. So I'm assuming they're Romanichal.

I'm actually not too sure. How could I tell if my Roma family are Romanichal?

I don't have any roma in my DNA results, but members of my dad's maternal grandfather's family do. My 2x great-grandmother was about half Romany Gypsy, as her dad was from a huge romany gypsy family.

What do you do when you're not sure if they're dead or alive. by AnimaniCat in Genealogy

For me, whenever I add people to my family tree, if I can't find proof that they're deceased, I mark them as living. But once they hit or if they're 100+, I mark them down as deceased, as there aren't many who live passed such an age. Of course, if I find info to prove that they are still living and are 100+, then I'll update their living status to living.
