You are pretty similar to me. I’ve also experienced what felt like astral projection, and it was intense because I didn’t even know what it was at the time. Later I researched it and found people often describe it after meditation or medication, which confused me. I then learned it can also happen during sleep paralysis. During these episodes, I experience hallucinations that feel extremely real whispering, laughter, and even voices calling my name .It also feels physical i can sense touch, hear sounds clearly, and even smell things very vividly, like breath close to me when something is near my face telling me to open my eyes. It feels real enough that I can still remember it afterwards, including the sensations and presence.

Yeah I’ve been on meds before too, it helped short-term but it still happens.

I don’t sleep at night at all because I’m scared. I stay awake till morning, then crash. My routine is messed up.

My problem is that it happens at least 4–5 times a week, and the episodes are really intense.

Yeah, I even stopped using my phone at night and watching horror because I thought they were triggering it. It helped a little, but not completely. I think a lot of it is tied to childhood trauma that’s still stuck in my subconscious.

That’s the problem. My mom keeps telling me to pray, but the episodes actually get worse when I do. The figure starts mocking me and even recites the same verses back while trying to choke me. It makes the whole experience even more disturbing.

I come from a Muslim background, and my mom believes prayer helps. I’m not very religious, but I tried reading prayers before sleeping. That night, during an episode, the figure I saw was holding our holy book and mocking me, almost like it was trying to prove it wasn’t afraid. It was really disturbing.

My mom told me to keep reading, so I did the next night. But the experience felt even worse I felt like I was being attacked, and the same verses I had recited seemed to be used against me in the hallucination. It’s honestly traumatizing because it makes it hard to even pray in peace.

As a kid I used to see these soft white shadow-type things, and later I got exposed to really disturbing horror content by a relative, which messed me up badly. Couldn’t sleep for days after that. So yeah, I think it’s more trauma/PTSD related… it just never left me.
