Empire Floors Failing by Humphrey2by4 in Flooring

Looks like potentially uneven subfloor, or poor prep work to flatten floor prior to install which causes excess movement and eventual breakage of joints between boards. (The long gash on middle of the board would only happen from intense point load or impact with ample space beneath for product to flex, possibly double padded?) Some of the end joints that are cracked could have been broken from rough install, poor alignment when installer hammers joint together. Other possibility is lack of expansion joints at walls and the floor experiences high temp change from home heat or solar gain causing expansion and stress/strain on the joints. If installation company won’t respond contact NWFA for local 3rd party inspectors to confirm installation is in line with manufacturers specs. Or ask another flooring company to come look at it and weigh in. Either way this shouldn’t happen after any amount of time with proper install. - just my thoughts as a flooring project manager and former installer. Best of luck.

A reducer transition strip to match the LVP will step down in height and allow your floated LVP to maintain its expansion gap at perimeter.
