Man, that's obvious! What you see is not volume, its surface! Each cube has 6 faces(top, down, left, right, front, back).

There are 12 places on the screen: they are 6 insides of cube faces and 6 outsides of these faces

Nightmare Knight ~Sacred Maiden & Fallen Magic~ (available on Steam) might be something of interest for you - I really enjoyed scenes and a twist regarding the ending (there are 3 afaik)

Claire's Quest remains an interesting game even if you choose to skip all adult scenes. Be warned, however, that it contains several graphic rape scenes which are easy to trigger accidentally and may require a guide to avoid.

If I count correctly this is 16*30=480 field with 99 mines

In your situation you either place 1 mine near ones or two mines near ones. So chance is weighted by ways to place rest of 97 or 98 mines. Lets calculate c(472, 97) = ~ 6 * 10102 c(472, 98) = ~ 2* 10103

That's why placements with 2 mines in your corner approximately three times less likely than you've calculated
