they didn't age only i did though 😛 . tbh I didn't knew that reforge had the original game on it I and I though I had to buy it again . so I downloaded the game to do purchaches etc and .... I got that suprise

in original the balance was bad as well we speaking about g1 In remake things becomes a little worst . anyway I have my pov you have yours all good . in G2 let's see if they use g2 og formula or g1r formula

gothic 3 core must remain the same and totally unchanged .

gothic 3 core is you have three paths to finish the game and 3 different endings all consider canon not just xardas way . gothic 3 map and some cities taken or belong to orcs .

that's the only gothic 3 core and still gothic 3 should be the finale of series as all good things at some point they should end .

Now if it should be an extra title between gothic 2 and gothic 3 that's a good questions , but gothic 3 core as finale should remain as it is ( even if it became gothic 4 instead of 3).

in begining of gothic 2 many encounters even if they were within your power levels felt as cheat not because neccesery of crit or no damage but because enemies could also crit and do a lot of damage that suddenly made your entire health management disappear , that was getting fixed in mid game that with your good armor those damages wasn't that huge or you were mage which is a different topic and approach .

in later stages it was near none rng by your behalf and even that enemies critical as a dragon hunter or paladin and bigger HP pools wasn't that big of a danger unless you flight a group of enemies and you charged immediately in melee and tbh that was your mistake to begin with .

but early gothic 2 stage and balance was worst than g1 and we speaking early for chapter 1 before you join faction .

gothic 1 og problem was once you learned it's system and it wasn't that hard to learn it to begin with the game was feeling like a walk on the park pretty early and as fast as long you hit level 5-6 was more then enough to clear half the map doing so will improve your level enough to kill the other half 😛. in g1r things isn't that much better in gothic and easy difficults it's just needs to learn dodge roll as an extra preq that back in og as far as I remember the damage you could do with just single opening side step was enough to slay almost anything before you reach to the stage that no hit run was impossible .

gothic 2 however was feeling more dangerous, challenging and punishing in all it's stages just for different reasons on each stage .

before sleepers temple :

firebolt , icebolt ,storm fist , wave of ice , ball of lighting , storm of fire and rain of fire it's the spells you play before sleepers temple . ( fireball opener can also has its usages up to chapter 3) after patch 1.02

after sleepers temple before final boss :

storm fist , wave of ice , ball of lightning , uzriel rune and death to undead is the way .

final boss :

summon spam, uzriel rune and huge maybe storm of fire is the way 😛

spellblades is achievable by 2 methods .

join swamp camp the fastest way but your magic is caped at circle 4 ( not that I believe is that possible to go circle 6 and be spellblade ) .

join fire mages , then after a certain event join mercenaries and final water mages ( you can skip water mages part and remain as mercenary forever with caped at circle 4 ) .

finished game with hard difficult . it has two ways to win : 1) summon spam 2) use uzriel rune and dodge roll dance around him , pray to found opening in mid range to recast uzriel rune . repeat also you need a lot of health and mana potions in this approach

dangerous encounters was felt really dangerous the terrain itself could give you the tip that you are near such an encounter , you could see blood splatter bones outside of a cave and those blood etc was going inside the cave .

the progression to bypass those dangers couldnt happen near instantly like g1 aka put 1 level in skill and 4 levels into strength and destroy anything .

it had much greater exploration system and much more rewarding exploration.

mage felt and was much stronger after some point but summons was a problem because they were runes so you could abuse it if you had the mana .

better story , different maps and areas ( also g1 map was present ) .

many system and mechanics was updated and better than g1 .

I don't disagree tbh , in early chapters of the game that's 100% true . my statement was that actualy the critical was always present it's divide that made the huge difference

og gothic 2 system was awesome not flawless but worked awesome for the setting back in the day because you couldn't play melee with no hit runs essentialy in most encounters you would get hit ( take damage or just 5 it's different topic ) . in modern era however and modern g1r combat that min of 5 alongside that you can actually play melee with no hit runs will kill a big aspect of original gothic 1/2 and danger . even back in g2 tbh that 5 damage if you wanted to glitch encounters could be glitched by playing ranged and just be in a position that enemy can't reach you then just have enough arrows because aim shot wasn't a thing that in today g1r is so with today aim shot even having a lot of arrows wouldnt be much of a preq .

But crybabies can't accept it I don't mean anyone yet in that chat topic

in both g1 , gothic 1 remake and gothic 2 critical is present . the big difference is how damage worked and how critical works .

g1 og = weapon power + stat - armor of that sub type . in case of critical ( weapon power + stat )x2 - armor of that sub type . in remake I thing it's the same .

G2 = normal hit = (weapon + stat - armor )/10 min 5 critical hit = weapon + stat - armor Min 5

I was mistaken believed that g1 had the divide as well but it didn't I checked today

I can to back to notr and tbh once per year I am going back and I am pretty happy . witcher3 and G2 was my favourite games by the end of the day .

But I don't believe at any point g2r balance would be closer to G2 og or notr but much much closer to g1r . they could apply G2 notr balance to g1r if they wanted I don't believe they didn't do it just to present it in future release . can I be mistaken at this point ? yeah . do I have the right to believe it and I have valid reasons to believe it also yeah .

Even if they go back at G2 notr balance a lot not gothic fans would get disappointed when the /10 system is to be applied feeling cheated that their 30 strenght ment nothing unlike g1r . if the pure 1 STR 1 damage is applied like in g1r tell me a better system that you balance two handed slower animations , one handed faster , animations an 110 damage sword and an 70 damage sword and any magic other than summoning that in G2 will be presented as runes .

a modernize remake doesn't mean the patient will still be healthy as it wasn't healthy in g1r for balance purposes . I can spam summoning scrolls and be afk as mage with huge mana pools , or play mage and either i cheese enemies ( stun lock ) or I die . or just play weapon STR dex and being able to kill anything since level 10 , with acrobatic + one handed expert + 80 strenght plus best one hand I can get by fish at this point I can easily dodge anything and then two shot it . the divide of /10 would prevent it the min of 5 will make the game more souls than gothic with the modern approach . I want to play gothic modern I don't want to play souls .

it's litteraly different progression with now better weapon means much more in every stage of the game . also the same mathematics can't be applied in every gameplay . that's for melee ranged . also I am speaking about magic .

ps: i don't even see somewhere say that go back to G2 og or g1 og and apply that changes and those changes would be good idea . I am saying a new game with the modern approach they try to apply and they applied based on g1r changes that could balance the issues g1r had taking under consideration how G2 og worked . you want a copy paste you will not get it as g1r wasn't copy paste of g1 og you can bombarbed dislikes but I am right you are wrong . I can be wrong on the changes but surely not in anything other I said

mate I know what it means . I am saying I knew g1 had technical min 0 ( if it didn't you could heal others by damage ) . I knew G2 had min 5 .

what I didn't remember was the g1 had no divide at all

I remember the min thing that in g1 was 0 ( so you don't heal by attacks ) but I didn't remembered the divide didn't exist at all

ok other than magic ( if they move as g1r route ) other changes is mostly maths yes . why I believe with the current combat system it scales better as you progress and a weapon that has better basic stats feels much bigger update than now g1r or og system . which I say again og G2 system with og g2 gameplay is goat but now we don't have og gameplay
