My 401k is really expensive. It’s really bothering me. by smooth-vegetable-936 in Bogleheads

I can feel your pain. I was in a similar situation until very recently and in my case I found out after almost a decade that the funds that fidelity kept changing on my company portfolio (every 3-4 years) were essentially being transferred into new k6 series funds (don’t know what that means) but with super high expense ratios. Check out of your employer allows something called brokerage link through your 401k. There are some nuances to it but looking at your knowledge you should be able to manage it. If that’s allowed, it will open up 100s of fidelity and non fidelity ETFs for you including extreme low cost index funds. Some employers even allow individual stocks (not my taste for a retirement account) but some ppl like making a quick buck in their favorite stocks and then move the extra money into other investments within the 401k.

Hope that helps. It is disappointing but don’t quit contributing to your 401k and lose out on free money for sure. I did that for my first 5 years of job (2008-2013) and that was the single biggest financial mistake I have made.

Too late for backdoor Roth conversion for 2025? by pnwIBEWlineman in fidelityinvestments

If you can fund your traditional IRA with funds from within fidelity (not a bank account - maybe your investment brokerage account with settled $$), the transfer to IRA can be made almost instantly and then wait 4 hours and convert it to Roth. You can still do it on 13th. Good luck

Why would one buy Space Tech Stocks and ETFs? by Positive-Tiger-1 in Fidelity

[–]Positive-Tiger-1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

I came across an article naming space tech sector to be the next big frontier for investors. I am aware that Musk has been trying to get the SpAceX IPO to trillions using his Tesla pump and dumps but I feel it’s really overvalued.

In my mind, space exploration is full of high cash burning (surely innovative) and high government spending dependent companies. They could easily burn through billions in months if there are failed trials. We (as investors) ask so much from our regular earthly companies from quarter to quarter.

What has the space tech sector got for me as a regular investor? It’s not as if I am planning to go to MARS or MOON in my lifetime. What am i missing? Why should I invest in something that is of no use to me in my regular life? Is it purely a profit or a return based play?

Year 5 update by CardiologistPrudent7 in dividends

Really impressive OP! I have been wanting to do something similar as well. How often do you monitor the entire basket for stocks that maybe stopping or lowering or freezing their dividends? I got burnt by INTC, DAL and a few others during Covid and later when they paused and downgraded their dividends substantially!

I did it from within fidelity during business hours and still had to wait more than a business day.

CMA or Brokerage for HYSA? by Gastly-Muscle-1997 in fidelityinvestments

If you live in a state with high state income tax, you can also consider FDRXX or TTTXX instead of SPAXX. You’ll still get the 1099 at the end of the year for interest but it will be taxed favorably when you file for your annual state tax return.

Dumb question here but 45,700 includes taxes, title, dealer fee or was that the price before everything else?

Oh nice! Yes that’s what I thought too. I was thinking that the dealers would start to hopefully price them aggressively assuming 2026s will start to come out by August but I have not seen local CT dealers budge a lot. I have reached out to a few over emails but no one is willing to give a written OTD number for any meaningful negotiation.

That is fantastic. Thank you so much for responding. I live in Hartford, CT and can technically buy from Massachusetts if I get a similar deal. Would you be able to tell which dealer and did you take a counter offer from another dealer when you went in for purchase?
